We killed Satele for getting no push and/or being turnstile - a finesse player. I've watched all the pre-season games and our running game up the middle has been pathetic (esp. compared to how the Falcons plowed SD). We are all singing Donald Thomas' praises and yes I have seen him punish people, but I do not see a big push from the Smiley-Grove-Thomas conglomerate.

Is Grove balling and I am missing it? I don't see the nastiness from him yet - matter of fact, I haven't seen him a nice 2 gap run with him in yet. :thanks:

I saw the first half of the Carolina game and thought Grove, Thomas and Carey handled the right side of the line just fine. Throw out the Tampa game because the team played terrible. I have seen film on him against Wilfork and the Jets NT(his name escapes me now) and he was mauling them.

The NT for the Jets is Jenkins I think. He is a real beast.

Still very early . . . this OLine still needs to gel . . . pretty much only have the 2 tackles from last year . . . a new center and 2 guards coming off of season ending injuries. He definitely is an upgrade physically from Satele and if he stays healthy he will help this oline between the tackles. I'm not worried, its just preseason.

True, hopefully we can win some games while they gel, as it may take until week 3 or 4. I just don't want to see Ronnie getting off to a slow start this year. :hi5:

Nope, you are not missing it because he hasn't done anything but stalemate his man, which is a loss for a OL imo.

He sent someone to the locker room the first game when he stepped on them. That's nasty.

God I hope not .. seeing a 300 lb guy flash would be horrible.
Stop kidding yourself. You want to see how much "it" makes of the 300 lbs.

Grove is not blowing people off the line of scrimmage, but he is sustaining blocks while achieving a seal. That is a win. Also, he regularly gets to the second level when that is his assignment. Satele very rarely succeeded at second level blocking. I am not satisfied with Grove's performance, but it is clearly an improvement.

Tampa game he put a lineman on his back on a running play. I'd say that's a flash.

The oline looks to be solid. This last game was ok, but guys were tired. They just got through like 3 games and 2 a day practice in the last like 10 days. The oline will be strong. They have played a lot of reps and so far have avoided the injury bug this pre-season and that is a huge plus.

More than likely the starts will get more rest this week gearing up for week 1 and with fresher legs this team will start it's run. This oline could just be nasty and I can't wait see them wearing teams out as the season wears on. Other teams better have some depth at the DL to stay in close games because this oline should beat down a lot of teams.

He does not appear to be a great upgrade. He is better at pass protection, but still leaves a lot to be desired as far as run blocking.

But...an upgrade is an upgrade!!!
