Does any-one know the age`s and the contract $$$....to see which Team got the Better Deal on the Free Agent Center`s?
Dolphins or Ravens???
Thanks for any info....

As far as age is concerned (which doesn't matter a great deal for OLmen), Birk is 32 and will be 33 when the season starts. Grove just turned 29 back in January.

I really wish we wouldn't give fat *** contracts to injury prone centers who never lived up to their lofty draft status.

We were much better served giving that money to Housh or Nate Washington and then drafting a center.

Hey, I hope I'm wrong and Grove stays healthy all the while mauling opposing defensive tackles for years to come. However, I really don't think he deserves to be one of the highest paid centers in football based upon his career thus far.

if these two fought it out, i think Birk would bite off the head of Grove and poop it out faster than Yatil Green's Dolphin career..... thats right, Birk has an unbelievable digestive system!!!

Conjecture.

Birk was awful last year. Ask any Minnesota fan.

Bringing in 33 year old declining starters on big contracts is not what this regime is about. If that were the case they wouldn't have gotten rid of JT right when his decline looked obvious to everyone. It's about building a very good football team throughout the lineup. And a team that we can be proud of for many years.

Well let's put it this way, Minny allowed Birk to hit FA...Grove hit his incentives and put hisself in FA... One's younger...is health a concern, yes, it was a concern with YB, but I didn't see anyone here cry when we resigned him.. I like all the beef on the OL now..we finally decided to do something about our OL, and I'm happy, we've always gone after skilled players, but no one in the trenches, and the results have been terrible. The last guy who went after trench guys got outbided for them, but atleast he recognized that's what we needed and we boo'd him to death.. and that was Spelman.

Minn allow Birk to hit the market for the same reasons the Phins allowed some of our D-backs to hit the market. They would have had to overpay them to keep them and their skills were marginal at best. Birk had been a great player in the past, but the years have started to catch up to him. He was still a decent C and Min would have liked to keep him, but not at the price of a multi-year, milti-million dollar contract. So to answer the question, Birk is probably a better C right now than Grove, but in a year or two . . . . probably not. Birk is nothing more than a temp stop-gap for the Ravens. Grove . . . . ???? not sure.

Birk wasn't interested in playing for a warm weather team so why does it matter ? He wasn't going to come here.
