i was thinking, we could possibly trade up just a little to get Albert (G)

Imagine Jake Long and Albert on the left side of the line?
i know i know..two rookies on the same side. but our line would be amazing for a long time if they both turn out to be what most are projecting.

the mid-to late 1st round point values aren't that incredibly high. we would not have to give up too much to have Albert. He might even slip to our 1st pick in the 2nd round anyways.

what are your thoughts?

How do we "trade up" to get Albert when we have the first overall pick?

im talking about trading one of our 2nd rounds and another pick to move up and grab him in the late 1st round.

for someone who has 23,000 post, you think you would get that

I really like Albert, but he has shot up draft boards over the last two months and went from being a mid 2nd round pick to possibly a top 20. At first I was hoping to grab him if he fell to our 2a pick but that will never happen.

It would be awesome if he was still on the board at the 33 spot but if we take Jake Long first overall it wouldnt make much sense to draft another offensive linemen with all the holes we need to fill.

Chilo Rachel from USC would be a good inside linemen to target if he somehow fell to pick 2a

i wouldn't mind Rachel either. i think he would make it to our 2(b) pick

thank you ticophin, exactly

You´re welcome....that scenario would be sooooo sexy, but honestly, with our D looking the way it does, and so many needs all over, I hope we don´t give away any picks this year...We need to rebuild, and, the more picks we have, the higher the chances some of them actually succeed and contribute...

true enough. We do have alot of holes to fill. I think Bill has done a great job with the defense though. A few players like Jason Ferg. is more or a stop gap. But overall, the defense if pretty solid.
(just need depth) although, im not too impressed with the cb spot.

But i think the major problem so far is the O-Line. I think it will be addressed 2 times with our 1st 4 picks.

however, Bill does love his Defense.

It would be great . . . but so would grabbing Cason or Sweed . . . I mean I don't know if I would trade up for Albert . . . just too many holes, but if he fell to 32 . . . depending who else is there . . . u definitely would have to consider him. Things is, I'm not sure about the Satele to Guard move that people are talking about . . . so if that is a possibility . . . drafting Albert IMO is not likely . . . I guess we will see . . . would potentially be one HELL of a line if everybody lives up to there potential.

A couple of things I've spotted in this thread

We'd have to trade in front of Pittsburgh to grab Albert.. not very likely. Parcells is a big believer in finding O-Line talent in the mid to later rounds of a draft, because they are such an easy position to coach with very few physical limitations between the elite and the bad players. Good starting Olinemen, besides LTs, are easily molded.

Hope Chilo Rachel would hope to our 2(A) pick is like hoping that we might get a shot at draft Anthony Morelli... ie it's dreaming quite low and it'd be an awful pick @ #32. I would not mind that selection @ #57, however. Depending whom we grab at #1, #32 is going to fill the opposite hole. If we go Jake Long, I'd like to go after a linebacker. If we go Chris Long, I'd like to go after a tackle such as Sam Baker or Jeff Otah

i can agree with that. im just thinking that the major holes are all on the O-line. and after last year, it would be nice to have a really nice O-line for once.

The only way I see this being possible is if we go after Jake Long, and then Branden Albert. Both are starting NFL Caliber rookies...

That's my dream scenario minus the trade up. I know Albert won't fall but I would love it if he did.
