I'm a Beck fan, yes but first of all. Even if Beck is the best quarterback to ever play, (Obviously not) but at least we have a 22 year old quarterback with A LOT of potential coming out of a better system at Michigan. Yes, Big Ten sats are inflated and he did rank second in Big Ten history. He'll probably be no Tom Brady but the good part of him with Jake Long is that with a rookie quarterback, (and always) it adds a lot of instant confidence in Chad Henne knowing that he has a player he's played with for four years blocking on his blindside for him. After playing for four years, Jake Long knows every weakness of Henne and Henne knows every weakness of long. I think that yes, EVEN THOUGH, we do have John Beck this was a very smart pick by Parcells and company. The talk in these forums of getting Mario Manningham, I agree with for the same reasons obviously, Henne knows Mario and Mario knows Henne. For years of experience with each other does add a lot, wether you like the pick or not you can't really disagree with that in my opinion. I think if Manningham is there in the 4th we take him without a doubt.

This thread title is dripping with irony. Or should I say, 'are' dripping with irony.

i dont think he was saying the players are very smart, i believe he meant the drafting of both Henne and Long is very smart. as in a very smart move by us.

Yeah. I didn't mean that they both are smart I meant the duo is smart. As in Jake Long and Chad Henne together as one unit. But thanks for the grammar lesson.

I don't think they said, "hey let's take Henne because we have Jake Long and they've played together before."

Truth is Henne is the best fit at quarterback for us. Yes there was Flacco but why trade up and take a quarterback early on? Henne fell right into our laps and I expected our FO to do exactly what they did.

Hell this entire draft has been going our way. We got Merling who was a projected mid first rounder with the 32 pick. Now we have great options with the first pick in the third round.

It's going to make for an exciting day come tomorrow.

well, i'm as happy as a pig in (you know what). :D

let's hope this pans out for us.

I'm a Beck fan as well. I'm not afraid of the competition, and hopefully my guy isn't either.

This competition will only push the best QB of the two into being better. In the end you might even have a great QB and a good backup, or even some trade bait.

I can understand other viewpoints as why the Dolphins should have gone a different direction with the Henne pick, but it does have value and it was not wasted IMO.
