Is Jake Long a Left Tackle? Apparently so. Three games into the season and all those naysayers who were so certain he couldn't handle speed rushers ... Well, I guess they're starting to see that Jake Long truly is a special LT.

heya Digital.. I remember our discussions right before the draft.. You and I were 2 of the biggest proponents for drafting Jake Long.

Aside from the LT Denver chose (Clady), all the other tackles aren't looking that good from the draft.. And moving Carey to the right side has proven to be a good move by adding a future star in Long at LT.. Miami probably has the best tackle combo in the division RIGHT NOW. And maybe in the AFC in the coming years (Carey needs to be resigned).

yeah long is gonna be solid for us for years to come. He struggled in his first 2 games but hes a rookie and simply put thats what rookies do. I think many in our fanbase want to win so bad that knee jerk reactions have become common place. Its a horrible state of affairs because the fact that we dont develop talent has killed us for years.
All qbs throw ints. all wr drop balls, and all rbs fumble, so it should go to figure that all linemen miss blocks. Jake is special and i got this feeling that hes only gonna get better. He will however hit a few bumps in the road and struggle at times.

Jake Long was blasting Patriot D-linemen off the ball all day yesterday.. There are some All-Pros on that Pats D-line and Jake treated them like rag dolls. He made All Pro Richard Seymour, a very good player in Ty Warren, and Adalius Thomas look ridiculous on a number of occasions.

I also thought Smiley was excellent yesterday. By far his best game as a fin.

Smiley was our best lineman yesterday. He made some huge blocks on the wildcat formation. As for Long, he is clearly a LT in this league. He dominated the Pats yesterday and really hasnt done anything bad in his first 3 games.

I liked what he did....you build a team from the inside out and Jake was the best Tackle on the board. Now we have been comparing him to HOF LT's after 2 games. But i think he has adjusted extremely well and think he has a better grasp on the speed and tendency of the rushers coming at him and he will only get better as time goes on. he will be special he just needed more than 2 games ahaha

Bill Belichick said it best last week.. He said when he studied film on the fins that he thought Jake Long will end up being one of the premier left tackles in the NFL.. He said it's only a matter of time.

And he said he totally understood why Miami selected him first overall.. I'm sure Belichick would kill to have Jake on his overrated O-line in New England.

Jake Long will be a solid piece of this offensive line for years to come. He's a rookie and for a kid that has been thrown to the wolves in his first three NFL starts, I think he's handled himself quite well.

Don't knock Jake!

Outside of M.Ryan and D.Mac I haven't really seen anything from the other top picks (Gholston, C.Long, Dorsey etc...). I think this has been a brilliant move for us and hopefully resigning VC will be done sooner than later.

I liked how they put him at TE on the wild cat plays.

The biggest? Hmmm? Seems I raised a few blood pressures promoting Long myself...:)

Yes Jake did a helluva job yesterday, but I'm not even going to single out one person, cause as whole we got the job done all around the board.

I can see us being really good in the years to come. Unfortunately, this franchise has been saddled with dissapointing draft picks in previous years. It is a work in progress. I believe with more playing experience and another solid draft ot two, we'll be a great team, especially when CPennington hands over the ranes to Henne down the road and we have a QB who can stretch the field. We'll be tough to beat. That's what I'm seeing with the new regime. Will we have more ups and downs? Without question! But you can already see these men get up after being knocked down. About time!
