jake long is not right (opinion)

I stand corrected then.

Would you say it's par for the course then?

Nah... Jake Long looks hurt to me. On top of it, I don't think he's even got his camp legs under him.

Honestly, he looks about 70% to me right now at the most...

Jake does seem to drag at the beginning of the year, but very little camp and no preseason definitely has an effect. I know Jake is a great LT and we praise him as a HOF but he is human and he does seem to not be 100%. As long as he is getting healthier he will be fine by the time we get back from the bye . . . . still better than the alternatives.

there's no doubt in my mind he's playing hurt...i think his knee is still an issue off of last year brilliant idea to play him in the 2nd quarter of the 4th preseason game vs the cowboys

yet another dumb *** thing sparano has done...jake should have whatever corrective surgery needs to be done this offseason...or once we're out of it shut him down and let him get it taken care of...and pray its not microfracture or something to that effect...

And he does not get us 1/2 yd on the goalline either...The next time I hear the announcer say "Jake Long delivered a pancake block that allowed the runner to walk in the endzone...TD Miami" will be the 1st time I heard it.

Don't get me wrong...Love him too , fantastic guy but Just sayen...Something is holding Jake back because you know he wants that runner on his hip when all you need is a yard to reach pay-dirt. I mean if you are a giant and a #1...Who would not want to plow the road?

You've never heard of Connor Barwin?

Yes. Of course. Just an exaggerated statement for emphasis. The point was that Connor Barwin isnt exactly James Harrison or Julius Peppers.

Mean while in Atlanta Matt Ryan is healthy and with his 5 redzone TDs Sunday Night will be more then the Dolphins accumulate bye week! Whistle False Start 77 offense.

My apologies. I was just surprised that someone who seems to know something about football wouldn't know who Barwin is.

well guys, looks like we aren't the only ones who had/has suspicions about big jake. I see he made the front page of finheaven. I tried to remember to thank everyone for their input.
I see this as very alarming. If it's a matter of fix it now, than I hope to hell the answer the FO makes is fix it now. I see no reason for jake long to be out playing if his knee or whatever is in need of repair. Let's be realistic, does anybody really see this team reeling off nine wins this year. after the first two weeks I have a hard time believing we will suddenly catch fire. whether it's home or away, the schedule is tough as nails IMO. I really see a house cleaning this offseason, and it'd be a damn shame if the next regime couldn't rely on a healthy 77 at LT. I know I will be paying special attention to him the next two weeks before the bye. If i don't see a different jake long soon, I will KNOW something is wrong rather than suspecting it.

His knee has been repaired, twice. He has not hit anyone since last season. You can do all the walk thrus you want in the world. It can never replicate full pad practices where they are hitting. Add in the fact the lockout forced him to have the surgery to repair the previous surgery late. Add in short re hab time but above all, add in non contact practices or smacking someone around since last seson.

Funny part is as another poster said, Jake was murdered and Henne got sacked. Look at the stats LLC, he was only credited with a half a sack this game when he reality if you look at it, the guy he was responsible for got to Henne directly thru Jake.

NO OTA, NO PRE-SEASON. WTF DID you expect..SMH. I think its obvious what's wrong with Jake. But a 80% Jake is better than 120% of most Left Tackles.

I am one of the few that thinks Jake Long is not that good against speedy rushers and experienced LB's, just watch the first 3 games of last year, Freeney destroyed him. He is really solid now but to be considered on the same page as Rochmond Webb (elite) thus far is still a reach. He is one of the players that has recognition from the league because of his draft position, but to be honest I don´t think he deserves avery probowl he has been in, like Ray Lewis, Troy Polamalu, Larry Allen, Bret Favre ... you get the picture.

This is what I meant way back when I said his knee was still going to be hurting him.. that stuff just does not go away fast at all.

It concerns me though that a year later his knee is still a problem for him. (If that's what the case here is)

I think Jake has more than held his own as one of the elite LT's in the league . . . and Freeney is allowed to beat Jake . . . he isn't this invinceable LT . . . Freeney is probably a borderline Hall of famer right now. Many of the best pass rushers in the league put Jake Long right at the top of the list as the best OT. He also ranks among the elite run blockers at OT as well.

If you had to pick a weakness, yea I would say speed rushers . . . but just because its a weakness on him, he is still better than the majority of the guys playing the same position.
