Miami hasnt had a top tier left tackle since they lost richmond webb to the cincinatti bengals.
vernon gholston is that demarcus ware/ L.T. player that Bill covets.
The obsticle i feel with either of these picks at number one is that miami will likely be able to pick either position at number 32.
So why not pick the best player available? you'll still get huge talent at that same position in round 2!

Better question would be Chris Long or Jake Long? And my answer to that would be any. Both will be great and both are needed. I was leaning on Chris Long because he just has a motor that dont stop and I wouldnt mind seeing Howie Long Jr. on this team. It will be a while before we see another DE/OLB as dominant as him which is why I'd rather have him. But Jake Long is a mauler and would be a great addition too, the only thing is that this draft is packed with talented tackles so if we could pick up one with one of our 2nd's and use our 1st on Chris Long...I'd be very happy. Besides, DE/OLB with the upside of Chris Long are alot harder to come by than a really good LT like Jake Long.

I have to disagree with that, really good LT's are extremely hard to find and all the really good ones in this draft will be gone by #32.

I watched a repeat of the Giants and Bills superbowl. BP drafted a guy nobody thought could play LT but BP insisted he could and he did. They won the superbowl with that tackle vs Bruce Smith. Maybe with the OT talent in this draft being deep he thinks any of those top 8 OT's are good enough for him. He's also looking to start building his defence as well and who's he going to build it around. I look for JT to be traded after the 1st few picks are taken in this years draft.

I have to go with Jake Long with out a good LT our team probly wont ever be good

Your question is wrong it should be chris long or jake long lol

wrong wrong wrong ..forget chris long we should take gholston not cause i say so..because he is going to be a great player fomr years to come..how can we give up on a player with his potential when he is being compared to shawn merriman...come on now steroids or not every here knows they would want him on your team....in a side not i like jake long to but my heart and mind says u cant go wrong with big vernon!

And Chris Long doesnt have potential right? Chris Long won't be a superstar in this league I'm assuming from your post.

Lets be real here. We had the chance to get a really good LT but our front office of the past let them all get by. And also, the latest mock draft I seen had 3 Tackles going in the first 12 picks so again, this draft is packed with Tackles and RB's and Bill Parcells doesnt need to draft Jake Long because BP can work with some of the other LT's in this draft and make them shine. Like I stated before, don't get me wrong because I wouldnt mind Jake Long with our 1st but there's too many talented tackles in this draft.

Go with the OT

There will not be one there for you in the second.

I see

Long
Otah
Williams
Cherilus
Clady

All going in the first.

Leaving you with a Nicks or Baker as the next T in the second

if you are talking about the '97 draft, the Jets had a much bigger need for linebacker than tackle. also, I have seen as many as 6 tackles projected to be taken in the first round. if you want a really good one, the chances of 7th best don't seem promising.

The problem is I've seen Chris Long disappear in games too, and I've also read on this site, I think Bommer posted it, that Chris Long's opponents weights were an avg of 30 lbs lower than Vernon Gholston's. I like both players but the last thing I said worries me about Chris Long.
