You don't build franchises around left tackles. Or else you end up with the same mediocrity we've experienced.

I rather have a stud QB and average LT then Stud LT and wellll Matt Moore, Chad Henne, David Garrard, Pat White..... etc....

Yes and Agreed, but Jake Long IMO is one of if not the TOP LT in the NFL and is about to get paid as the best OL in the league.

With the way the NFL is structuring the salary cap now I dont know if Jake Long is going to be worth tying up that much salary Cap space. We can take the best LT in the entire draft over the next 9-10 years if we wanted to and they still wouldnt all cost as much combined as Jake Longs contract is going to cost us.

How much drop off in quality is there really from a #1 LT in the NFL making Oogles amount of money from lets say the 7th best making 1/10th the salary.

I love people who bash taking linemen. Youre stud qb can't win you games throwing from his back. You build NFL teams fromt he ball out. The best example of this is the steelers. Studs everywhere. Oline is horrible and rapelessburger has to play hurt, they have to modify their whole offense and the lose to the ****ing broncos in the playoffs.

Just because we missed on quarterbacks doesn't mean taking long was a bad pick. You all saw how bad it is having just one horrible piece on the line with columbo....besides who should we have taken instead? matt i get shut out in the playoffs even though i have all pros all over my offense ryan? I'll pass.

I was thinking the same thing...the Steelers won twice with Big Ben getting beat to **** back there. Mind you, its partly how Ben plays, but the line also wasnt very good when they won the SBs. Oh and they had a franchise QB.

They have Big Ben period, franchise QB, your comparison has to end there. I love Jake Long but dont like the Jake Long Price Tag. Having that salary hit at Oline in this day and age is a black hole for an organization.
