i believe that if we stay at one we will take jake long because we need him the most. but i also think that parcells wants chris long or vernon gholston more. that being said, by negotiating with jake first it gives the teams that want him less hope that he will fall to him, such as st. louis and kansas city. By a contract being put in place, this could allow st. louis or kansas city to trade up for him. i heard somewhere that jake wont demand too much money. if we fall to kansas city's spot, and definitely st. louis', we will still get a great player guaranteed. i think parcells would rather gholston with a trade down then anything. they cant fool ppl with matt ryan cause no one wants him that much. same with mcfadden. jake long is the most wanted player this year for teams that could trade up...

I dont doubt your theory, but I wouldnt call it a smokescreen, just good business at this stage of the draft process.

Im willing to bet alot of people hope mcfadden falls to him.

We have such a need at OT that if it is a smokescreen I hope it is because they feel Branden Albert is Jake Long's equal and feel they can drop down to KC's 5 spot and get him and some picks.

Mcfaddenwill fall to the Jets or pats at 6 and 7 who will in turn trade him to Dallas for their #1's and more....they are in the prime slots on the edge of the drop off shelf. Gonna suck in this deep draft with either of those teams getting a buttload of picks.

thats a good point... branden albert tho being the hottest prospect as of late still is the most underrated just for the fact that he isnt considered a top 5 pick when he should be. easily one of the best players in the draft and if we could trade down and get him or gholston, we would be in better shape then taking jake long just because of the potential and getting more picks.

I Dont see the Raiders passing on McFadden. I can't see how or why they would do that. He is not falling to 6 or 7.

To say no one wants him that much is insanity. It's like you don't even know the words coming out of your mouth anymore and need immediate medical attention.

And why is he the most wanted player? Because he's an excellent player and he fills a critical need position for multiple teams, right? Well, that goes the same for us, and that's why we should take him #1. I'll be poppping a beer in celebration when we draft Jake Long.

thats a nice scenario and at 1 2 or 3 we get whoever we want with no reaching

Me too. Some people do not realize that a great Oline instantly makes your offense way more fun to watch. They get focused on WRs and backs when you HAVE to have a great OL before anything else can really develop.

Our offense will not be great because of a magic bullet at QB. It will be great with an Oline that can run block and pass protect. I want to see Beck with the threat of play action on any down. I want to see the guy have time to make reads and throw the ball. If it fails, then you bring a QB in next year to replace him, but you will have the Oline and running game already in place.
