I am actually quite curious as to whether he is playing hurt. I know how this team is hush hush about injuries. There is really nothing to explain such a sharp regression from last year. Except for maybe Tony is working his guys too hard. Though that is doubtful considering how well our defense played.

Abraham kicked his butt plain and simple. Jake was very slow getting off the ball, he couldn't get his feet set fast enough to handle the speed rush. He's a great run blocker but his weakness of not being to keep up with a strong fast pass rusher was exposed yesterday, hopefully he can correct it..

Let me start by saying I love Jake Long and that he will be solid the rest of the season. Jake also pancaked abraham a couple of times yesterday if u didnt know. Jake long is not the problem believe me...
The problem is vernon carey and smiley, they are not anywhere in the vicinity of elite. I still cannot fathom why we resign carey, probably becuz there wasnt anything better. All this money for guys that will never be in the probowl i dont get it. The exception is jake long.
Im going to make a prediction if next yrs draft has a natural Lt and we are in position to draft him i think we will take him. Not becuz jake is not good enough but becuz our line will be sooo much better with jake at right tackle then carey. I also think we will be drafting a guard. I think the phins will be fine this yr but its going to take way better coaching to win games then what i saw yesterday....

I was only able to watch the game one time through, but I didn't think Jake played that bad. He overcompensated for the speed rush and got caught on his heels and knocked on his butt. That is a mistake and it happens. I didn't get a good look at what happened on the second sack, so I can't comment on that.

There are two things that happened this game that rarely happened last year.

Teams always stacked the box last year. Chad has always had his same arm. Our receivers' have always been average. Ronnie has always danced. Our offense has always been dink n dunk. Our O-line, for most of last year, was always porous.

But two things did not happen last year:
1) Our LT did not regularly get beat or allow pressure
2) We rarely turned the ball over

That is, in a nutshell, the game to me. Everything else is the same it was last year.

I think Abraham made long look really bad, but Abraham is one of the best pass rushers in the game the guy had 16.5 sacks last year. I think Long will be a good tackle for many years.

Long will get the majority of the heat for the way the OL played and he certainly deserves his fair share but lets not lose sight of the fact that the entire OL had issues.

I don't know what it is with these guys but they all seem to take turns making mistakes.

It was a total giveup.....you can think he earned it if you want to. Either way....unless we can another schedule of team with 0 pass rushers, it won't happen again.

He'll bounce back. That was his first time facing Abraham and Abraham is a beast. If he starts struggling against people he's faced before then I'll start to worry.
