The Cleveland Browns have reached an agreement with Pro Bowl offensive tackle Joe Thomas on a seven-year, $84 million extension with roughly $44 million guaranteed, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Many pundits were wondering whether Jake Long or Joe Thomas would get the extension first and set the market, as it is believed that whichever waited would get a better deal..... well these are the numbers its going to take to extend Big Jake.....

makes sense that joe thomas would get extended first...he came in the league a year before jake..if i'm not mistaken jake signed a 7 year contract so i would think we're a couple of years away from needing to extend him...and we need to see if there's any lingering effects from the knee and shoulder injuries he sustained last season

Not good. Another thing to keep in mind is Longs rookie contract was only 5 years, so he will want to be paid next offseason. Expect a 90mil contract or so.

Hopefully we can lock him up for close to 10 years.

I never have said "pay the man", however if there is a player on the team that deserves such a contract it would be Jake Long.

Trade him for Matt Ryan or Ryan Mallett, you can win a Superbowl without a premier LT.

That's a lot of guaranteed $$$ for any OLmen in my book, obviously he deserves the best but that kind of money for even a LT sort of disturbs me.. but it looks like I'm alone on this.
