Trade him for Matt Ryan or Ryan Mallett, you can win a Superbowl without a premier LT.
And neither one of those are elite franchise QB's, especially not Mallett. What has he proved?
As for Matt Ryan, what's the big deal? What has he done to prove that he is an elite franchise QB? His TD-to-INT ratio has been pretty good during the past 3 years, but he also has one of the lowest yards-per-completion average in the league despite having one of the better receiving cores around him. Last season, only Mark Sanchez, Derek Anderson, Sam Bradford, and Jimmy Clausen had worse averages.
I'm not saying he's a bad QB, just saying that he hasn't proven to be all that. And please spare me the "he led the Falcons to an impressive record and the playoffs in 2 out of 3 seasons" crap. So what? Joe Flacco and Mark Sanchez have done that too, but are they elite franchise QB's? Hell, Jay Fiedler led the Dolphins to several playoff appearances a decade ago, was he all that great?
Until Ryan joins the ranks of Brady, Manning, Brees, Rivers, Rodgers or Roethlisberger, I wouldn't trade arguably the best LT in the league for him. Will Ryan get to that next level? Maybe. Personally, I don't think he will. I haven't seen enough from him to think he'll ever reach that level. If he does, great, you win. But as of today, he's not there and there is no guarantee he ever will be. On the other hand, Jake Long is already one of the best, if not the best, LT's in the game.
