Jalen Hurts

Hurts is fairly pedestrian. I never thought he'd have an issue coming in and playing decent football. But honestly, he doesn't throw it well enough to be a big passer in this league, and he doesn't run well enough to be a running QB in this league. But I think he can give you competent football. I just think over time he'll be another Gardner Minshew, a guy who will get exposed for lack of starting ability skills after too much exposure. I wouldn't mind having either guy on my team to pitch in for up to a month when my starter was out, but beyond that...

I think the real story is the guy on the other side today. Taysom Hill has been about the luckiest 4 game audition guy in the league. He got a done Falcons team that only even forced him to pass his second meeting with them. He got a Denver team that literally had no QBs. And then today he faced a down and out team with a moderate talent starting at QB and who got half their defense injured in the course of the game, and he still delivered some pretty mediocre play. He throws some nice passes against single coverage and against schemed open receivers but I don't know if his longterm viability was really the least bit figured out in this stretch. He got a big second chance just now.

I don't think anyone was really going to pursue Taysom Hill to be their franchise QB.
