Miami Dolphins second-year cornerback Jamar Taylor looks quicker and more explosive than he did a year ago. For the first time in his NFL career, he enters offseason workouts 100 percent healthy.

The Dolphins drafted Taylor in the second round last year despite a pre-draft kidney ailment and subsequent sports hernia that kept him out for most of the offseason. Taylor spent the regular season fighting off injuries and trying to earn playing time. He finished with just 40 snaps on defense.

Jamar Taylor is looking to bounce back from an injury-marred rookie season.
But Taylor enters his second year with the Dolphins a more confident player. Taylor has a chance to earn a role on the defense and is out to prove he can live up to his pre-draft billing.

“It's getting there. He's definitely coming back out,” Taylor said recently during organized team activities (OTAs). “That person ya'll seen talk a lot, it's getting there. But I got to learn. I got to crawl before I can walk. I'm out here trying to pick these older guys' brain.”

I hope some of last years rookies turn out to be good players after a little development.

I'm delighted Jamar is healthy and ready to contribute but why does he refer to himself in the third person ("He's definitely coming back out")? In every interview he comes off as a little weird. No doubt in my mind that Will Davis is a helluvalot smarter and more grounded. However, he needs to show that he's physically strong enough to compete on the field. There should be some good contests among the DBs.

Third person you say?

This one might be my second favorite. This wasn’t too long ago, I think it was the year he ended up playing with the Red Sox. Anyway, he called San Diego GM Kevin Towers and left the following message: “This is Rickey calling on behalf of Rickey. Rickey wants to play baseball.”

The most interesting thing from the article to me:

"Miami had the third-fewest snaps (1,126) by a rookie class in the NFL last year. Only the AFC champion Denver Broncos (1,066 snaps) and Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks (1,111 snaps) had less production from their rookies. "

i dont believe he is 100 % or every will be.

IT'S EVEN WORSE THAN THAT

Our total snap count for the rookie class was"LAST" in the NFL with 866 snaps

It's even worse than people think -- if they are comparing number of snaps of Miami's rookie class to 1. Broncos and 2. Seattle.

Those rosters are LOADED w. talent ahead of rookies. And intentionally draft high on ceiling in order to develop. Draft high as they see the development ability.

Miami's roster had CRAPOLA and plenty of chances for talented rookies to start. And they couldn't sniff the field.

HUGE difference, friends.

Those trying to make this crap sandwich from last year taste better -- please, lol.

It was apparently some rule in the draft room that if the player didn't have an injury concern in 2013 Miami would not take him. Look at Dion Jordan, Dallas Thomas, and Jamar Taylor in that category. All were drafted with injury problems.

As for Taylor, he does seem wired strange. He communicates in an odd way and has had more than one instance where he has said something strange or stated something in an odd way. Doesn't really matter, it may be a byproduct of his upbringing.

What's more interesting is the repeated message from the player. He's chesty. Rather than be the guy who sits there behind the scenes who quietly has a chip on his shoulder and then hits the other team in the mouth on Sundays, Taylor very loudly tells you he has a chip on his shoulder. Over and over.

He was drafted high for a reason. Well put together with the physicals you want. Let's hope he delivers.

I really don't care about last year now...Ireland is gone anyway.

However...if Jordan, Taylor & Thomas all end up starting or making major contributions as at least seems possible at this point...it could turn into a very productive draft and the rookie snapcount stat won't mean squat.

If Taylor wins the starting job I'm liking this secondary with Finnegan in the slot.

if our corner seems slow in shorts we already have an issue

Interesting in what way?? We knew Jordan, Taylor and Thomas had injuries. Sims didn't catch on too fast but all in all if 2 or 3 of these guys become probowlers who will care what they did their rookie year, 2 or 3 years from now??

The silver lining in all this is that it's almost like we drafted double the players - I mean based on production, Dallas Thomas, Dion Jordan, Will Davis and Jamar Taylor might as well have been drafted this year... we're going to see a lot of exposure to our young guys from this and last years draft.
