Was it a reach... yes. Did it fill our most glaring need...YES. Of course Clinton-dix or Dennard or even Cooks would have been the flashy pick but when you see what Tannehill is going to be able to do this season, when he actually has time to throw will make this pill alot easier to swallow. Everybody complaining about why we didn't trade back... YOU HAVE TO HAVE SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO TRADE WITH YOU!! New Orleans knew we needed O-line help, therefore there was no need to even entertain a trade with us. They knew we weren't gonna take their man. Bottom line no one on this board will ever know for sure if there were any teams that were interested in being trade partners with us. James is a TRUE right tackle! Doesn't that take some of the sting out of the pick, at least some? We don't have to worry about trying to force a LT into a RT spot and hope for the same level of performance. Lets wait till we've made all our picks before we start calling Hickey the next Ireland

Im happy the rest of the draft is deep. RT was the last glaring need on the o line and now thats out of the way.

Pouncey was projected to be a late first round pick and he turned out pretty good. As long as the rest of the draft goes well, I can accept the fact that the RT spot is filled and forget the what if's.
Hickey sure rolled the dice here. He surely knew the fans would not like this pick.

Was it a reach... yes.

So in your first sentence it's as bad as everyone is making it out to be?

Because that's the problem with the pick. MEGA reach for that guy at that spot.

Deal back and get picks if James is the guy that you want. You have no value with James there at 19.

I have no issue with it they should have traded down but it is what it is wait until tomorrow night to judge. 2nd and 3rd rounds should be good

If New Orleans would give up their 1st and 3rd, for the #20 spot, they would certainly give up their 1st and 3rd for the #19 spot.

We could have picked up New Orleans 1st (#27) and 3rd (#91).

With that #27 pick, we could have picked up OT Jawuan James or OT Morgan Moses.

And we would have picked up an extra 3rd rd pick.

Dude
You don't know if anyone wanted to trade up with us.
I would have like Moses over James. But they got their highest rated T. So everyone stop complaining.

If he works out like Pouncey I wont complain... but thats a big reach, he woulda been there later even if we took a bad value trade.... and its not kouandjio but yea coulda done better here

lol "was it a ****ty move? yes, but a good ****ty move"

mike pouncey was projected to be a mid 1st rd pick and a ton of mocks had him going to miami. this guy we just drafted? a 2nd round talent picked 19th. theres a reason this franchise is a pathetic disgrace year after year after year. every freaking player picked tonight was supoosed to go where they went till the 19th pick! i dont even know why im mad, rooting for this team is hopeless.

Manziel was still on the board.

I'm sure that a dance partner could have been found. It's no secret that at 19 we weren't guaranteed to have a crack at one of the top four OL.

Seems to me like the Dolphins didn't have a plan B. It was Zack Martin at 19 or we'll wing it.

Right after Miami made the #19 pick, New Orleans traded up, and gave their 1st (#27) and 3rd (#91) to grab Arizona's #20 pick.

If New Orleans would give up their 1st and 3rd for the #20 spot, they would certainly give up their 1st and 3rd for the #19 spot.

There is absolutely no reason why a #20 slot is better than a #19 slot.

Most mocks had james to us.... For those who are complaining

We just paid $50,000 for a Mazda 3 because we wanted to get good gas mileage. It filled a need, but we way over paid to get it.

Value is subjective. We didn't need a left tackle and the early pick linemen are left tackle candidates. Give me a guy to truly shore up RT and the 'value' will take care if itself.
I was negative early but reading some reports has changed my mind.
