“Maybe I’m at a loss,” Dukes said. “If (Pittsburgh safety) Ryan Clark said what he said, well, Ryan Clark is not a knucklehead. He’s not known for going off the reservation. That means there’s talk (around the league) about what’s going on down there. And the talk is not about the owner. The players applaud him; he’s trying to bring in the pieces to win.
“The problem is one guy (Ross) is an entertainment guy, and the other guy (Ireland) is patiently trying to build a quality football team. Those two are not indigenous.”

“I’ll be honest, I feel bad,” he said. “It’s as plain as the nose on my face what’s needed to do there to accomplish their goals. They have to create a buzz first, and that’s the least of the concerns of the folks handling the day-to-day football side.
“They can say they wanted Peyton, that they tried. (Tennessee owner) Bud Adams tried, John Elway tried and succeeded. The 49ers tried. Seattle tried. I’m just not convinced they tried hard enough.”

“To me this shows what Joe Philbin actually thinks of him,” Dukes said. “Matt Flynn looks like (Buffalo’s) Ryan Fitzpatrick to me. He was throwing to the best receiving corps by far in the NFL. By light years. He’s not going to find that anywhere else. And if Philbin was not willing to step up in that situation, that’s OK by me.”

And he’s not down on David Garrard, whom he feels never worked with even a decent receiving corps in Jacksonville.
“He’s in very familiar territory in that sense,” Dukes said. “He won a lot of football games with no receivers. I don’t know if he’s ever been given a fair shot to succeed, because he’s never had much to work with. And Miami is one of the few places he can go where he’s got a shot at a starting gig.”

“They had two people available who could have filled them, Peyton and RG3 (Robert Griffin III). Peyton, hey, the dude lives in South Beach. They had the money to sign not only him but Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark. I just don’t believe they couldn’t get it done.”

Reportly Mrs Manning didn't want to be Miami.

**** Ryan Clark.

comments like thay land players in NFL purgatory.

Like Channing Crowder. Oh he may be in Pittsburg, but it may the last stop in his career.

Just like Joey Porter should thank his lucky stars the Cards tolerate him. All he's good for is barking in huddles.

Not sure we did have the money to sign Peyton and Clark and Porter are tools that only know how to run their mouths.

We did not have the money to give manning the contract he got from the broncos, no way no how.

Any thread title that implies Jamie Dukes is lending his opinion should not be read. No wonder Mayock looks like a genius surrounded by these guys.

We didn't have the money for Petyon, let alone Reggie and Clark. Peyton will get paid $18 million this year along and we had $14.4 when free agency started...with about 44 players under contract. You have $14.4 million to sign 9 players with one of them being a QB and about 6 or 7 being rookies (about $5 million in rookie salaries) you don't have any money left to play with.

Yeah, Dukes and Irving are like the comedy duo over there. The NFL channel is still one QUADRILLION times better than ESPN though.

Dukes is too funny, he annoys the other guys on the set too. You can see them wincing and making faces some times.

Dukes is actually one of the few members of the cast that I enjoy
