Jamil Douglas pulls ahead of Billy Turner

Shocking news, thought Turner had that spot all but locked up. I don't care who is out there, just keep Tannehill upright and give Lamar the holes he needs.

I'd be lying if I said I was surprised. People were automatically penciling him as a solid starter for us, but that was obviously way too premature.

Hopefully this means a long, successful career for Jamil Douglas.

The article is just an opinion. No quotes about who is ahead for RG. I doubt Douglas is ahead of Turner.

I think a number of people assumed Douglas and Turner would be starting, but Thomas' play has changed things. In this case I don't think it matters who starts because both Douglas and Turner will likely see playing time this season.

Turner is bad but he is 3/4 of a way to being acceptable. Douglas on the ither hand does not belong on football field right now. He is nowhere near ready.

Rookie Jamil Douglas has pulled ahead of Billy Turner in the competition at right guard, according to two people briefed on the situation. Turner was informed of that Monday and was naturally disappointed. The Dolphins still have time to settle on a starter before the Sept. 13 opener at Washington.

Though Turner — a third-round pick in 2014 — has shown flashes, his inconsistency concerns coaches. Douglas, meanwhile, has made a strong impression on the coaching staff.

Douglas, the rookie fourth-rounder from Arizona State, has gotten work at both left guard and right guard during the past month. He started at left guard on Saturday against Atlanta, with Turner at right guard.

Douglas played left guard and left tackle with the Sun Devils, so playing on the right side would be something of an adjustment.:)

“Very pleased with Jamil, particularly for a rookie,” offensive line coach John Benton said a few weeks ago. “Handles himself like a pro.”

Nah...i havent seen douglas at right guard in a game i dont think but for what i have seen nothing says to me douglas over turner week 1

What turner needs is game reps...give them to him week 1

This is so odd to me…
1. Barry Jackson is money with his insight. Plus, he seems to have it on good authority from Turner or someone close to him that he was demoted.
2. That said, what a waste of time it has been because Turner has received all the preseason reps at RG with the 1's.
3. Douglas has not played RG in his college career.
4. I hate, hate, hate jumbling the line this late in the process.

Odd move I have to say. I am Turner guy and think he needs more experience at spot he has never played. I do wonder if he could end up being the flip OT and eventually a starter at his college position, LT.

Ii just dont see how this team makes this move...right guard faces a lot of strength...douglas is softer than turner on contact and not the same level athlete

Be a head scratcher for me

Is this just speculation or has Barry Jackson been informed by someone within the Dolphin organization that this is how it goes?

If it was anyone other than Jackson I would really just speculation, but since he is reporting it have to think it's more than that. We shall see.

that's a polite way to put it.

Douglas had 3 negative grades at left guard i counted...i mean overall thats not bad but you gonna face more bulls at right guard...you better bring that base and that anchor

Do think he showed very well awareness wise vs stunts etc...handled his assignments well

but it is barry jackson so...
