with the saints making their first SB in team history its now been 25 years since miami last played in a Super Bowl.

25 years, let that sink in I am 39,started following the fins in 82,lived and died with every game Marino played in.

Consider now that that Green Bay(2),Tampa Bay,New Orleans,New England(6),Cincinnati,St.Louis,Arizona,San Diego,Buffalo, expansion Carolina and all the league powers of yester year Dallas(3),Pittsburgh(3) San Francisco(3),Denver(5),NY Giants(4),Washington(2) well you get the idea, all have made a SB appearnce since.

the Bills & Pats two of the laughing stock of the NFL during the 80's have a combined 10 SB appearences since 1/20/85, god I never thought miami would not return they had the great Don Shula the young gun Marino super bowls where going to be the norm, wow days like today always make me a little sad.

I was 15 then, I hope I experience the feeling of my team making the Super Bowl again, but I really wonder with 5 appearances & the only undefeated season in league history if our time came and went.

There's no guaranteed the Dolphins will ever get to the SB again but it's faith as a fan that you need to make it until it happens.

Hey well I've never seen one! Consider yourself lucky. It sucks but it will come again. The Steelers have been doing it since the 70s. And here is one thing to make you all feel better:

January 12, 1969-The last time the Jets made it to the [AFL vs NFL] Super Bowl. There was no AFC back then, so the Jets have actually never won an AFC Championship game. There was no such thing as the moon landing, or woodstock, or disco. The Beatles were still together. You get the picture. Whenever I think about 1985[wasnt even alive], I think of 1969 to make myself feel better.

It's pathetic to continue piling on all these years and no SB appearances. I seriously wonder if we're going to be the Cubs of the NFL. I might be an old ****ing man by the time the Phins reach the SB again.

The Yets are one of 5 AFC teams to have never won an AFC championship game. They are 0-3 in AFC title games.

The Fins are 5-2 but haven't played in one since 1992. We are going on 20 years folks - this must change before I have a coronary.

The team is heading in the right direction. The Saints are one of the worst franchsie in the NFL, so they should celebrate.

Seeing the Seahawks, Cardinals, and Saints make the Super Bowl has been a mindf--k.

NO DOUBT Shula WASTED the Marino Years...

No Shula tried everything he knew how to get the fins back to super bowl. If You remember he practically broke the bank with free agents to get Dan back in 95. And had the team not gotten hit with injuries he might have done it. With Shula we had great offense although he couldn't get any running backs to produce nor did our defenses hold up.

If you want to blame Shula for anything I would say sticking with certain defensive coordinators too long might be a better thing.

Now a better statement would be JJ killed the remaining Marino years . By handcuffing Dan with no audibles which was a bread and butter for Dan. Since he never really had no run game. And also drafting numerous running backs that never panned out. When he could have upgraded O-line. Which might have helped his run game. And pass game.

This franchise hasn't been elite for a VERY VERY long time. It's quite sad how far the "mighty has fallen".

The year I graduated High School.

Hopefully we'll get back. Heck, the Jets turned it around in one year..Why not us?

Yeah, there's no denying my timing was good. The Dolphins started winning big under Shula when I was late in elementary school and old enough to appreciate it. The Super Bowl victories came when I was in junior high.

When I see posters on this site who are 16 or 17 and someone digs at their knowledge level I'm always baffled. My friends and I could detail every Dolphin player at every position when we were 12 or younger, plus the game strategy. There's no reason that doesn't hold up today.

In those early to mid '70s glory years, we were certain the Dolphins would always be contenders, never more than a few years between titles. In fact, I distinctly remember waking up on Super Bowl Sunday vs. the Redskins in January 1983, thankful that the ridiculous 9 year gap was about to end.

i am going for the saints. They deserve it way more then colts.

I'd rather see Manning win so we can put to bed that ridiculous "Brady is better than Manning" debate. After seeing what difference a player like Manning makes against elite defenses like the Ravens and Jets, how can anyone possibly continue to make that claim?
