A friend of mine hooked me up with a DVD of the AFC Championship Game between the Phins and the Steelers after the 1984 season. It was the original broadcast with Dick Enberg, Merlin Olsen and Bob Griese, not a highlight package. I watched it with my 8 yr old son. Talk about bringing back memories. I felt like I was a senior in HS again. Chuck Noll's comment to Shula on the field after the game said it all "WOW"

Wow that was a long time ago. I was still just a kid, only about 10-11. My cousin Tommy was on that team. I think he was injured at the time though.

Funny you should mention it I was a senior in high school at that time as well.

We unfortunately were beat in the SB two weeks later on my 18th birthday Jan 20.1985.

What a bad way to remember your birthday.

What part of Ohio do you reside. I live in southwest Ohio.

How cool to read this thread.

Man I envy you I would love to own that game.

Take care.

What a buzz to open the page and see this thread

Finfang, I'm in eastern Ohio along the Wva border about 40 minutes southwest of Pittsburgh. Being that close to the Burg made that win even sweeter cause I'm surrounded by Steeler fans.

Are you going to the opener?

I'm going to Indy this year on New years eve. The Dolphins haven't played there in a while.

When the Colts were still in the AFC east I used to go every year.

I'm probably gonna' make the road trip to Chicago with a Bears buddy of mine for the November 5 matchup. Should be a great season for us. I think we will take the division this year. I can't wait for the season to start.

I own that game, too. You're absolutely right about that comment by Noll. His eyes get huge and he says "Wow", in reference to what Marino did to his defense. 5 straight TD's.
Classic.

Endzone

I was only able to get endzone seats for that game (first row / closed side). I thought the seats weren't going to be very good at all because I would miss most of the action. Well, I was WRONG. All but one Dolphins score took place right in front of me. One TD was a slant across the middle to Clayton. Jack Lambert came across to take off Clayton's head but he was a second too late because Marino zipped the ball in. Well, I was so close to the action that if Clayton had missed the pass I could have reached over and probably caught it. But then again, Jack Lambert would probably try to rip my head off. Bottom line: One of my most memorable games to watch in person and the bad seats turned out to be my best seats ever.

Yeah I have that one. Its my favorite Dolphins game. I was 14 at the time and thought Miami was a lock in SB20. Marino was AWESOME in that game. 421 yds 4td's. Remember him hitting Nathan while falling backwards being tackled by Lambert. Amazing play.

Duper was wide open all day. 2 big TD catches.

Marino also caught a pass, but it taken away by a penalty.

Even though Pittsburgh's defense wasn't as good as the "Steel Curtain" days, they were still pretty good and I don't think Chuck Knoll was used to seeing them being carved up like that. In fact, I think the Steelers were the only team to beat the 49ers that year. Then in 1985 we were the only ones to beat the Bears. Then we stunk it up against the Patriots in that slopfest at the Orange Bowl. It sucks because I really think we could have beaten the Bears again. Then Danny and all the Killer B's could have gotten their rings :shakeno:

I was 1 year old when that happened, but I still know about it. It took me quite a few years to actually see highlights from that game (seeing that most of my family are Raiders fans).

Cutch, I'm right outside of Steubenville, Ohio are you going to the opener? My buddy is getting me tickets and I'm always looking for more fin fans to tailgate. Especially since we'll be well outnumbered by idiotic Steeler fans.
