What are the chances of this guy falling to our pick in the second round. I thought for sure he would be a top 15 or 10 pick after I watched him in the bowl game. I guess his speed is really knocking him down the boards. But the guy is a gamer and I think he will be something special.

There is a good chance, if he runs a 4.7 or worse, which is suspected.

If he runs a 4.7 after having all this extra time to train (after skipping combine), then I don't want him in the 2nd. I'd prefer my wideouts be able to outrun a defensive end. Personally I suspect he will run somewhere around a 4.5-4.55 which would put him in the second half of the first round. If he manages a 4.45 you may see him pass Ginn as the second receiver taken.

oh you mean like Anquan Boldin and Jerry Rice?

You've named two exceptions. How about the ton that didn't warrant the pick: Troy Edwards, Peter Warrick, David Terrell, Rod Gardner, Mike Clayton (good rookie year - now flop), Rashaun Woods and Mike Williams were WR than did not run very well and draft in the first round. Now I didn't look at 2nd rounders or go back to 1985 (where you got Rice) to get examples, but I think I'd win.

I'm not saying that Jarrett can't be good, but I would be very concerned if he put up a 4.7. If anything, it would give me concern about his work ethic as this is obviously the major concern of his skills by NFL scouts and should be his focus in training if he has half a brain. My guess is that he will run in the 4.5's which will likely put him in the first round.

With his slow times, he could fall to the 2nd round. Him and Sidney Rice, who has decent speed though, are the prototypical possession WR's that this team could use.

I want Ginn cos we need a real playmaker on our team...we've lacked that since Clayton and Duper....we need to score points and Ginn would help us do that.

Ozzy rules!!

Im more concerned with Jarretts lack of seperation ability than lack of top end speed. Yes, the two are related, but they are also different.
He is certainly a gamer and knows how to run a route and use his body, but I see him like a slower Chambers. He just cant get away from defenders.
If we take a WR CJ would be an unrealistic though very pleasant dream. Ted Ginn however is a legit gamebreaker. Insane top end speed, great seperation, good YAC guy.

Jarrett ..... well, meh.

Jarrett was absolutely dominant in college. I want him much more than Ginn, less bust potential.

I list my receivers as:

1.Calvin Johnson (well duh)
2.Dwayne Bowe
3.Dwayne Jarrett
4.Robert Meachem
5.Ted Ginn Jr.

IMO Bowe and Jarrett will both be solid recievers at the next level.

He can't get off the line in press coverage, watch what Houston did to him in the Arkansas game. Don't want him, he will be average at best in the nfl. IMO

Who says Ginn will be the 2nd WR taken?

Meachem and Bowe have made very strong cases for themselves. I take either in a heartbeat over Jarrett.

i was watching duper and clayton catch passes from marino last night on the nfl network & that what the fins really miss at wr a guy who can fly plus catch the ball, which is why i would like to get ginn or meachum if they decided to wr in the 1st rd.

We could use a burner, Jarett is not that kind of WR.
But still I wouldnt mind drafting him.

Slower chambers?

Okay, but this slower version has better hands, taller, and very physical.

I have to agree with you that there are exceptions to any situation
and the 2 exceptions to the situation are very good but in all reality
if a wideout runs a 4.7 or more I would be hard pressed to draft that player
never mind the second round.

Your evaluation of Jarrett was spot on...VERY GOOD JOB
