Jarvis Landry (Q1)

I may have missed it, but does he have any drops?

I,like his potential. He has not been over or underwhelming. Maybe a breakout, 8-10 reception game will solidify him as a solid player, but he will likely need to make little impressions during the season to make the transition to the NFL complete.

He has to learn and realize that he is not in college anymore. On some of his returns he holds the ball rather loosely in one hand than securing it. He mat get away with that in college but not in the NFL.

I do think though that in time we have a gem there.

You know what? I don't mind that so much. I hate that our players seem so petrified to make a mistake they go down at the slightest contact or they don't really test what the D is giving them before running out of bounds or taking the tackle. That has improved a little under Lazor and particularly against Oak, where I thought we showed an aggression and ambition I hadn't seen for a while.

But I actually applaud Landry playing like he is still in college, ie not daunted by his surroundings and wanting to push the envelope. I don't like the drops or fumbles any more than the next guy, but I frickin hate the whiff of defeatism that's been around this team for the past few years. Any guy who has the attitude needed to turn that around gets my support.

Good post.

I think once he is engrained as more of "starting" wr, maybe only for the slot, but once he is off kick returns, I expect him to be better as a receiver

Rookies with speed tend to be the ones who come into the league and blow it up against 3 and 4 corners. Landrys game is not built on speed but running crisp routes and his hands. It will take him more than 4 games to get up to speed and more than a season to get the playbook and strength in line with what the NFL needs out of a physical receiver.

What I like about him is he doesn't go down easy, which explains he YAC and success on KO returns averaging close to 30 yd a return...Once this kid gets more playing time and learns the pro game he will be a solid addition....I like him and I hope the coaches don't bench him on punt returns just yet....let this kid get some experience back there because it will help us later in the season.

I think we are missing the bigger picture...

A second round pick that is actually contributing...

With all the hype preseason, his performance to date has been underwhelming.

Underwhelming is a relative term. Dion Jordan and Jamar Taylor have been underwhelming, there is no way you can put Landry on their level to underwhelm.

Personally, I think Landry is going to be a guy that frustrates opposing teams fans more than he ever becomes a favorite for Dolphins fans. And for me he was the one bright spot in the passing game at the Bills, while the rest of the offense looked like a blurry mess the Tannehill-Landry connection looked to be completely in focus.

He was a very late second round pick and has helped the team as an offensive weapon, on special teams and has been solid to very good in his blocking as a WR. He has also had somewhat inconsistant play from the QB and is competing for passes with 5 guys who are returning from the year before.

Excuses. People here pumped him up to unreachable standards. Drops, mental lapses have hurt Miami on more than one occasion.

Well his play has has been far from consistent, and has failed to live up to the preseason hype pushed on these boards.

He's a little better version of Bess. Nothing more nothing less.

What the boards say have zero affect on how well hes performing on Sundays.

These boards don't mean ****.

Very true.

But his 2 fumbles and lapses in judgment on STs has hurt Miami.

My main point is he's OK. But he is not the weapon portrayed by many here. Shoot, people in this thread are still over valuing him. All the while people think he should be pulled from STs duty.

Meh. I think he will be fine. I just don't think he will be anything special. We are so starved for draft picks to contribute, we will take and run with mediocre results. But give me John Brown from AZ, and maybe hype meets reality.

It's also a lot easier to offer criticism in hindsight, Captain, rather than to actually try and lend a prediction or insight based off personal observations.

Ah least the name calling has stopped. But I don't expect it to last long.

I have offered a opinion, but like past history with you....you don't accept it. Might be best to just ignore each other. Since I think you offer little outside of pictures mocking fellow posters and sending private messages attacking some.

Any predictions here? Hmmm.
