They played together in the same defensive backfield at UT with JA at cb and Wilson at S. That was the first year Allen started in college and was pretty good. If Allen somehow does end up starting this year maybe having a familar face behind him at safety will help him. Just got the offseason blues and remembered them playing together at UT. Thoughts

I didn't know that, that's pretty cool. So we've got former teammates in Jake Long and Chad Henne, and now we have Jason Allen and Gibril Wilson.

I bet it's weird of them to realize that they're teammates once again, when they could easily be on 31 other teams

thats a good thought. we'll see what happens

I'm telling you. I'm going to be waiting with my crow, for the guy that mocked me for predicting that Jason Allen was going to be a starter at one of the CB spots...

It's always fun to see guys playing together on the next level.

But I'm sorry, I sure hope J. Allen is no where near starting in the coach's minds.

I feel like this is their message to him that this is his absolute last chance. I feel like they will be watching him very closely all offseason. To see how hard he works to get better. (I'm not saying that he doesn't work hard, but he needs to put the work in to show that he really wants this). They will work with him as long as he shows that he wants to improve and he may have a shot at being a starter as long as he works for it and shows that he wants it. It's all up to him though, he has the potential but has not shown anything yet. If he doesn't show them anything, he could very well be gone.

I was in your shoes last season thinking that.

He was not brought in by our current coaching staff, and has proven he can not play two positions. I'm actually surprised we have not heard rumors starting that he could be being shopped around, or even talks of being cut. The thing working in his favor is our secondary has a lot of needs, and I'm sure there is a big cap hit if let go. Maybe coaches think he is a good guy to keep because he can play special teams, maybe a nickel/dime CB, or come in at safety if needed. I was not happy when we drafted him coming out with his injury history, and bad hips. Would I like to see him succeed and turn things around. Yes. Do I honestly think he will. No.

here is an awesome thought how bout reuniting carey with his former canes players by trading our picks, we would probably win the sb

That would really be somethin. I hope J Allen steps it up this year, he's shown improvement every year. Lets hope for a breakthrough.

didn't know that they had that commonality
might just be a factor
I think Jason is going to take off like a rocket this year
