The Dolphins will convert Jason Allen to cornerback.

Allen is known as a 'tweener and played plenty of cornerback at Tennessee. The 2006 first-round pick barely played in his rookie season at free safety. This could make LaRon Landry even more attractive to Miami if he falls to the ninth pick.

Hopefully, he flourishes like Carey did after movd from guard to tackle after his rookie season. With the need for offense on this team why do people think we need defense. I dont know, but Landry at nine would be crazy.

If he could excel and we could grab Landry, our secondary will be awesome for years to come.

oh pleaseeeeeeeeeeee draft landry,,the kid is amazing and the best hitter since Ed Reed...

I don't remember exactly what was said about Allen when he came out, but weren't some scouts saying he had good straight line speed but lacked the fluidity to play CB? That's why some thought he'd be a better safety than corner. If he could be a pro bowler at either position, I'd rather it be at corner, but you gotta play him where he'll be the most successful.

If someone remembers for sure please feel free to chime in...

Can Landry play QB or LT ? This team has no offense yet some of you want our 1st pick to be Landry. Some of you guys are alright with this. Our QB is Cleo Lemon and Hamden right now, Alabi is are starting LT with Liwenski a journey man LG fighting it out with TOledo to start at LG and you guys want Landry. I know the guy is super talented but we need offense.....

Eventhough if we draft a QB at 9th it wouldn't play this year and if he does, it would be a wasted year..., If we draft Levi Brown it could start though, but no guarantees that he is gonna be solid just this year...

By the other hand, if we draft a DB (to solidify the defense) it could be one of the most if not the most solid defense in the NFL, and let me tell you that great defenses can also win Super Bowls and not only great offenses...

Eventhough I'd be very excited to land Quinn here

That's all that needs to be asked when someone brings up Landry. We need to get either Quinn, Ginn, Brown or Staley with that first pick.

I like the idea of moving Allen to corner. It takes care of a log jam at safety and hopefully gives us our other starting corner.

The key here is to draft the best available player and not a player that we need by position, the Pats have been doing this for years and the true reality that in fact hurts is that if we want to be like them, we better start following the key...

A few days back I wrote an article about Jason Allen's versatility in the secondary and how it is a benefit and not a curse. Allen would fill a greater need at CB, but it's also great that he can potentially play safety if needed, especially with the influx of no-huddle offenses and the need for defenses to adjust on the fly.

Check out that article here. What do you guys think?

So the Colts should draft a QB? The Chargers should draft a RB? (Assuming the best overall player on their board was one of these positions)

Of course not. You know what positions you need to fill, and you pick the best player available at one of them.

With Jason Allen moving to corner I do think safety could be considered a need. However I'd prefer to see if Merriweather drops to our second 2nd rounder.

exactly. I just think we need a playmaker at FS and hill is NOT that maybe we go for merriweather or griffith or is it griffin the S from texas in round 2. It can be fixed.
