I don't understand why we don't fix this guy at safety, and groom him here to stay safeties for years to come.

If we move him all week how he can produce ?

opinions ?

Yeah I just saw some respected people on this site say that this would never happen too. That would be kinda disappointing to me. I think it says we made a mistake with this guy right?

knowing that allen might plaY CB next year gets me so excited. it's news like this that makes you proud to be a dolfan! :sidelol:

i dont see why thats a bad thing. try him out at CB and see if he plays better at CB or S. If he plays better at CB, well there ya go...we dont need to worry about drafting a CB since we got J. Allen, Daniels, W. Allen, Goodman.

then we can draft a S...like Tim Zibokowski. a hard hitting S

Thing is, we need another safety . . . SS, so why even mess with Allen if FS is a postition we definetly need an athelte of his caliber to fill. If we try Allen at CB, a position that we have Goodman, Will Allen, Daniels and possibly Will Poole at, then we are still stuck with Tillman, Hill and Bell at safety (I like Bell but u get what I'm saying). Keep Allen at S, draft a SS (if Landry is a value pick at where we pick in round 1, I think u chance it, or Zib in round 2 . . . whatever) . . . and we are set at S for the next 10 years or so.

I really think Saban has a better grasp on this than we do.....regardless of his win-loss record. We drafted Allen because he could play any position in the secondary, and if Saban thinks he is best suited for CB, then that's where he'll go. Frankly, I just want to see the guy on the field making plays somewhere. If he ends up being a stud CB, our safety positions won't be as critical as they are now. We are expecting our safeties right now to make up for poor CB play, and if Allen works out, they won't have as much pressure on them anymore. I'm not going to shoot the idea down before I see him play CB. Just my thoughts.

actually if we move him to CB that's says that Saban has a lot of confidence in him.

You don't move someone to CB if they struggle at safetey, you move a CB to S if he struggles in man coverage.

One of the main reasons Allen was projected to be a top FS and not a CB (like he was in college) was not only his size and hitting, but he also suffered a pretty bad hip injury. No one knew how he'd recover from that.

I think Allen could play CB, and would probably be a better option than Daniels or Goodman, but IMO he should stay at safety.

That story on the main page is misleading. It was taken from one of his press confrences, he never said he was going to move him to corner. Saban said Allen's "star" role in this defense will be playing saftey and some nickel in certain situations.

I can't see him at CB at all. We need an overhaul at safety anyway. Allen is part of the future at the position, Tillman and Hill will NOT be. Keep Allen at safety and draft Landry if available when we pick is part of my offseason wish list. By the way Landry has the talent and diversity to play either FS or SS.

What pisses me off is next season????

We are 1-6, give the kid a chance.

I am with you there!

I also think it is time to let Vickerson and Evans get some PT so that we can see what they bring to the table. I don't need to see Zgonina, I know what he can do...

Tha is my understanding of the situation as well. I think he is going to play Safety for us next season. Personally I think he has the physical tools, I am concerned that he has not picked up the defense so far.

I heard Nat Moore say last week that Allen was not playing when the Packers got in the red zone because the staff didn't trust him.
