It’s not saying much to state Allen, the team’s first-round pick in 2006, has been one of the team’s most valuable special-teams players. He was drafted out of Tennessee as a cornerback, and has repeatedly failed both there and at safety.

But Allen, who has eight special-teams tackles, was used in nickel coverage late in the game against New England after Nate Jones was slowed by a hamstring problem. On Wednesday, his play earned praise from coach Tony Sparano, who sounded more likely to use him in similar situations.

I've always supported Jason Allen. It seems like when the kid is in he makes plays. He got mugged by Moss last year but other than that hes there for the int or making a sure tackle. I think the problem with him is either work ethic or he doesn't know how to command the D from the safety position. But the dude is a baller.
