Jason Allen needs to step up

After drafting this guy in the middle of the 1st rd., his career has been disappointing to say the least. Either he is too stupid to be able to grasp the defensive scheme or the coaching staff has zero confidence in his ability. What is contract implications on our team? I am tried of carrying dead weight on the team i.e. Alabi, Moore, etc. Time to cut this guy loose if it is possible.:impatient:
 
Allen's fast and athletic making takles on special teams, though I don't think anyone on special teams deserves praise right now.
 
Jason Allen is just another of the bad FO decisions of the past years...
 
Next time we go up against a team with big WR's...I bet he gets a shot. Let's see then if he makes the most of it...
 
I think it's pretty safe to say this guy is a bust. He's just not, for whatever reason able to get it done. It's not just one regime, it's three now.

I still dont think hes a bust.I give him one more year. The trifecta turned Roth around, they can do it with Allen.

I hear ya. I'm not married to the bust idea, but, he's enough of one to qualify, IMO. I always had a higher opinion of Roth, but, he was heading that way too, but, it's harder for a 2nd to bust than a 1st. Here's hoping he does step up. Lord knows we need somone too.

Good point. A majority of posters were ready to send Matt Roth to the unemployment line. I hope the same can happen with Jason Allen. At this point, can we really afford more wasted draft picks?
 
Hard to step up being on the bench.... he's played good special teams. It must be hard watching Crocker get burnt all the time and nobody says anything and he slips on Chad Johnson play last year and get's hammered mercifully even though me made numerous plays prior to that... It too bad each player is not judge the same... Sure Jason was a first round pick but why judge him more harshly just because of that.. he can play better than the another player but sits the bench because he doesn't play like a mid first round pick...
 
Some people just collect paychecks for being horrible players. Ted Ginn and Jason Allen are prime examples of such players. They are given some good enough money when they come out of college then they suck.
 
After watching the Texans game, I can't see how Jason Allen could be any worse than what we already have out there...
 
Allen has been solid on ST and that is about it. He is second or third tier material. He would not be a bust if he was drafted say in the 3rd or 4th round. But for a 1st rounder we have not received well on our investment. Disappointing as IMHO he would be a difference maker after he enjoyed a good career at Tenn.
 
Last year when he was in there on FS he did a good job i think the Coachs need to go watch some film from last year and try him out there he cant be any worse that we already have
