First off, did anyone go to the game and see if Jason Allen hit the field?

Second, I think sunday went okay. We have a sweet defense. No doubt. If we had and offense that could put up some points we would be fine. The good thing is that, unlike past years, we have some decent QBs. Culpepper needs to get himself right and he will be great. Joey looked good for his first game out against a confusing defense. I fully credit Joey for reducing the sack count. If he had 1.8 seconds to throw in Detroit, he now has 2.3 seconds and it seems he is pretty accurate (despite the 2 picks, one of which bounced of Welker's hands).

Third, lets see, at least our defense is better than Cincy's. We are gonna get a high to middle round pick in the first round this year. Hopefully a nice tackle will fall to us. Culpepper is gonna heal and be motivated by this obvious benching. Joey gets some experience. Jason Allen will soon be on the field.

Fourth, I've been thinking about our offseasons in the past 5-6 years. We have been, let's say, very Jet-like in our moves. Fletcher, Moore, Poole, Wade Smith, Two first rounders represented by a CFL rb that has played 1 of the last three years for us. We didn't even have a 2nd rounder in 2002. We are still reeling from all this Roster-Trauma (trademark). Our salary cap is tight and this is only Saban's second year. If our defense stays healthy and sharp for another year, I think that a few more freeagents, another good draft class, and more player development for the likes of Brown, Carey, Allen, and the new secondary, we should be okay. The fact that our D played with that kind of intensity yesterday proves that Saban has not lost control of this team. The season is another story. I think we are on the right track though.

Edit: add AJ Feeley and Lamar Gordon to the list as well as the miss on Brees. AHHHHHHH

I just want us to draft Linemen, LBs, and secondary. Unless of course we suck enough to land Calvin Johnson...

I was there. He didn't play. Didn't hear his name at all even on special teams. How can a guy who only missed 10 days be this bad? I know he's a rookie but Jeez.:shakeno:

Calvin Johnson:confused:

I say we need to play as a team to improve. We already have everything we need to go deep into playoffs but we keep hitting an invisible wall of ill fate. I'm sorry but averaging 5 sacks a game doesnt go down to one (against Pats nontheless) if it weren't for the line working with the QB and playing together. We showed against a very strong front that we have an O-line hiding somewhere and also shows it was CP's fault for most of the sacks recorded. We have what we need now we just have to work on playing together.

I am sorry... but if we are somehow in position to draft Calvin Johnson and dont... I will be furious. You just dont pass on talent like that...

Well I hope he can play oline. Every year a major talent is passed over. We drafted Fletcher ove Brees and needed a Qb and the coach and some fans on this board had the audacity to say Brees was not an upgrade lol. Lets learn something from Detroit, a WR is not going to put us over the top or near it. We need Oline and a bunch of other things before a Wr.

the way this season is going, im sure we'll pull a texans and draft like kyle wright over calvin johnson or something... hahahahahah what a joke

I dont care. You DONT pass over Calvin Johnson. I am all about drafting linemen... dont get me wrong. Commit round 2 and 3 to linemen if we have to, but you dont pass on Calvin. ****, trade up back into round 1 and grab one if we have to... but you dont pass on Calvin.

However, we prob wont have an opportunity to get him anyway... since he will prob be the 1st overall pick...

If Reggie Bush can be passed on and I dont agree with it, Calvin can be passed on. look how many teams passed on Matt Leinhart. We passed on Randy Moss to trade down for John Avery.

Saban has taken long looks at WR in the first round the past two year. Braylon and Jackson the be specific. If a playmaker in the capacity of Johnson is there when we pick, he has a good chance of being a Dolphin and would be a major playmaker in this offense. He even brought in Charles Rodgers for a workout even though it seems to us we don't have any need for a player at the position. What do these guys all have in common? They are known to have been big play WR's in their careers.

Once the o-line solidifies, we're going to see alot more shots down the field. Thats what Culpepper is here for, and thats why we have seen Saban more interest in WR's than most people would like to see. He wants to be a big play offense, and right now we don't have the offensive line to let the leash be taken off.
