They say he is buried behind everyone at the CB position and coul dbe traded for a 7th round pick. But they dont think they will even be able to get a 7th for him. SO they think he will be released. Jason Allen is officially a full blown bust. How do you go from gettin drafted #16 in the 2006 draft to roster bubble in years. This guy sucked at Tenn and really stunk it up in Mia. I live in Knoxville Tn so I watched him alot when he was with the Vols and was not sure why we picked him when we did. There was tons of talent left when we picked and alot of CB/S that were better suited for us. Cromartie, and Kelly Jennings were both a better fit for what we wanted to do . But oh well another bad draft

I fail to see how anyone knows where any player sits on the depth chart, considering the Dolphins have yet to release one, nor have they had any practice sessions open to the media. Its all speculation at this point.

That said, Jason Allen will probably be competing with Nate Jones to be the #5 CB.

Which endangered Fin might become extinct?

This is just Armando being Armando. He loves to speculate about things that he knows will get people's attention and get the website more hits.

I would tell you the guy who should be most worried about his spot on the roster between now and the start of training camp is Jason Allen. This coaching staff appreciates his special teams work -- some anyway.

But as a cornerback? Not so much. And as a safety? Not at all.

The Dolphins 2006 first-round draft pick has frustrated Miami coaches in that he is tutored and coached and told how to do things. And then in time of crisis and pressure, when he needs the techniques taught to him the most, he reverts to instincts and techniques he learned years ago. And those things do not serve him well, aside from the fact they frustrate the current regime.

Allen should notice the Dolphins drafted two cornerbacks -- Vontae Davis and Sean Smith -- last weekend. They also signed Eric Green before that. Those three are this regime's guys. Allen is not. He has a bull's eye on his back. He is endangered on this roster.

Really? How does leading the SEC in tackles and being named a 3rd team All-American translate to sucking?

I actually think there is a chance he could remain on the roster this upcoming season. We are likely going to carry 8-9 defensive backs and unless another defensive back is added, he probably will make the cut.

Lets look at the cornerback position. Will Allen, Vontae Davis, Sean Smith, Eric Green and Nate Jones are all pretty much locks to make the team. At safety, I would say Yeremiah Bell and Gibril Wilson are the only true locks. Chris Clemons will likely make the roster, but other then that it is a toss up. Those are 8 players I listed, but I think like last season, we will carry 9. I think Jason Allen has as good a shot if not better as Bryan, Culver, Thomas, Babers, Kilmer and Billingsley.

I have to slightly disagree with this. Neither one, as well as Jason Allen, has been all that consistent in their careers. The players who raises their level of play will be the ones to make the final roster.

I agree with Nub. My guess is they will keep 9 DBs, and I agree with the 8 "locks." The last spot is probably between Allen and Culver, but honestly Allen is getting paid way too much to be the 9th DB on this team, and quite honestly, Culver has shown just as much production as Allen. I don't Allen's "potential" is worth the roster spot + $ over Culver.

I'm from the Knoxville area too and am a lifelong Vols fan...one of my best friends used to be really good friends with him, apparently he hes become a jack *** after going pro as well. I personally think he was a reach too and given our depth at CB and safety wouldn't be upset if we traded him or cut him

Tyrone Culver played VERY well last season. He is a better safety than Jason Allen. If this regime is intent on leaving Jason at corner, then he will have an uphill battle to make this team.

The fact that we are talking about him being the 8th or 9th db on this team is more than enough to warrant calling this guy a bust. He is mediocre at best, what a rotten pick at 16 in the draft. Wannstink/Speildork, Saban and Cameron/Mueller these guys were the worst drafting bunch of jokes I have ever seen. Well maybe not the worst cause Millen has proven to be worse than them, but these guys are right on his heels!

The only locks are probably veterans Will Allen, Bell and Wilson. The two rookies Davis and Smith. The others, including Clemons will have to earn their spots. There were people talking about how the players the Trifecta brought in last year were locks but many of them, including Keith Davis, didn't make the final roster.

some people translate over to the pros better than others. Not saying that J Allen doesn't have potential, he just doesn't fit our system that well. He might succeed elsewhere, and if that is the case its better for him to get a fresh start and better for us to save the $

I agree he is on bubble. If he is not the starter this year then he is one of the highest paid backups in the league. He needs to impress. I dont see them keeping him anoher year as a backup at his salary,
