This thread is probably about a year too late, but there's been a lot of negativity around Jason Allen lately.

Those are just scouting numbers. Seventh round picks become stars and first round picks become busts all the time. Hopefully Jason Allen plays at a high level this year, but he is not predetermined to be great.

Jason Allen is essentially going to have "rookie year part II" at CB this year, along with Rod Wright.

All of the computer numbers mean very little he may "look like Tarzan but play like Jane" for all we know, or he may be a decent corner back which is what I think will happen.

Good physical ability matched to a good pass rush should make his play at CB respectable at least.

By watching gametape. How often is 'he' around the ball? You can watch footage of players like Zach Thomas and Ray Lewis back when they were in college and tell they had incredible instinct. Instinct is one of the easier traits to measure.

These results weren't measured by any kind of tests, they are evaluations done by scouts. While I would agree that is is almost impossible to accurately measure a players desire (or "heart"), it would be assinine to ignore the rest of the criterea (like coverage etc.) just because you feel there are a few things that can't be measured.

Our very own Matt Rotth was drafted in the 2nd round, in large part because he played with a lot of "heart" (non stop motor). Pride/heart is probably the hardest thing to judge, but it's what separates many great players from the mediocre ones.
