What's the deal with Jason Allen? OK, he missed 10 days of training camp. BUT it's been THREE GAMES already! What happened to"He's so intelligent."? The Bills played their Rookie 1st Round Safety against us! Everyone was touting how much better Jason Allen is than Donte Whitner. So...Where's Jason Allen? Why are we having our 1st round pick playing only special teams & blocking people in the back? Has there been now situation in the last 3 games that Jason Allen could have contributed in the secondary? Everyone says be patient. Are the safeties we have now THAT much better than Jason Allen to the degree that he shouldn't play in the secondary? Maybe the Bills DID get the better safety. At least he's played all of their games. Why isn't this guy hitting the playbook like a madman to learn as much as he can. Does missing 10 practices in training camp mean you can't be a contributor for half the season? He was the NEXT-TO-LAST 1st round picck to sign! This after Wayne adamantly stated he wanted everyone in camp on time. Lost a little credibility there didn't you Wayne.

So, is this a "Wasted" year for Jason Allen? It certainly appears so. You don't hear Saban talking about how well Jason Allen is doing in practice & how he believes he is ready to contribute. All Jason Allen was doing was pretending to be Troy Polomalu for the SCOUT team. Certainly seems a lot of $$$ to pay for a scout team member.

Anybody else wondering why Saban has been so quiet about Allen? The Dolphins don't seem to be getting much out of their 1st round "Investment".

Here's hoping Allen will "Step Up" and begin contributing soon. Hopefully, he will pan out for us.

Your thoughts?:tantrum: :dolphins:

Well, perhaps it is Saban's first bad blunder. Matt Roth in the 2'nd round last year hasn't worked out either.

If he was good enough to be back there, he would be. Right now the people we have are simply better than him. I hope this changes... sooner rather than later

It's not reasonable to be worried about Jason Allen at this point. Worry about it about halfway through the season if he doesnt get substituted in. It's not a big deal if he doesnt start this season.

You cannot compare him to Donte Whitner, because Miami is not playing a cover-2 defense. Miami's safety responsibilities are a whole lot more complex then the Bills. Where virtually every play Donte Whitner is dropping back in the same deep zone, Allen is going to be responsible for basically anything a safety can do. His responsibilities are very similiar to Troy Polamalu, someone who didnt start a game his rookie season.

I dont think you're watching Roth when he plays if you dont think he is panning out.

Something's amiss.

This kid can't get on the field at all.

Was the mistake against Tampa Bay that bad?

he shot himself in the foot by holding out so long, but as far as panning out, i think some of you guys need to work for the dolphins as scouts

you guys have the uncanny ability to see who is going to succeed and fail after 3 games

very good post bro, much of that is overlooked...we are an "instant" society after all.

Wrong tree with the Whitner comparison.. he is starting because of injury and he is playing well but Buffalo has a different scheme so please dont make that apples and oranges comparison. As for Roth this alone http://www.tecphotos.com/dolphins/d/726-1/3rd+qrt+10_45+Roth+tackles+Mc+Gahee.gifMod EDIT makes him worth the pick.....But did your really expect a second year player to beat out Kevin Carter??? Roth makes plenty of plays for his limited time on the field that fact that he is stealing some snaps from KC says a lot.

i think saban is a little reluctant to throw jason allen into the mix right now, although it will happen sooner or later. especially if the secondary keeps playing below average. also, in regards to matt roth, for a while i believed he was a bust, and was a little upset we basically traded pat surtain for matt roth. however, the improvement from last year to this year has been huge, and hopefully will keep improving and will be worth the pick.

Jason Allen is simultaneously learning the two most complicated positions (CB and S) in an extremely complicated defense. For anyone to expect him to start three or four weeks in, especially after his holdout, is totally inane.

Allen's intelligence will demonstrate itself when he starts in the second half of the season, as opposed to next year.

I would say to avoid comparing what Saban is doing with Jason Allen to other players on other teams. In the Bills situation, Whitner HAS to play now. They are in trouble without him starting. Allen will hopefully be a bright spot down the road somewhere in the secondary. Will it be this season? Maybe. Maybe not. He will start playing more whenever the defense needs him to play more.

He needs some time under the system and some nfl experience. Donte Whitner is only starting cause the bills have injuries

am i crazy or is that a blatant penalty that wasn't called. didn't think you were allowed to tackle guys by the collar... thought there was a rule against that ??

very nice tho =p and hopefully jason allen can work out. like someone already said, 3 games isn't enough time, especially for a safety
