This guy was our first round pick in 06 and he has never evolved or produced. I rarely ever see him on D, and he seems like he is only used for special teams. Can anyone give reason for his lack of success on our team? (sorry if this was already brought up before, but I am new the the board)

If you want to give him the benefit of the doubt, being moved from CB to S to CB probably didn't help much.

Some people say he's not that bright, so going back and forth would be expected to be rough for him.

He's a tremendous athlete, and because he can't seem to get his head around the concepts he's taught, relies on his instincts and physical skills, which are what made him good/great in college.

As good of a player evaluator as Saban was supposed to be, this pick solidified that he didn't understand some of the differences between what makes a great college player and a great NFL player.

This post sums it up pretty well. I would also add that being moved around so much I believe hurt his confidence as well as playing 3 different coaches in about 3 years. How many QB's have we seen buried in Detriot for the same reasons!\

He's big on special teams, but his salary doesnt justify his role on the team.
