On Joe Rose right now...

He wants to be here according to Cole. His house is in Plantation 10 minutes away from camp.

If we would be playing the press-coverage, man to man like we've played in the past, I'd be as concerned too. But I believe we will play a scheme that fits the talent that we have. Play some man mixed in with a lot of zone. I dont think we ned to go out and spend $6 mil on Law for one year. It'd be nice, dont get me wrong. But if we can get a good pass rush, I think we'll be ok.

Detroit was very impressed with Law's ability and rehab. So impressed they said they couldn't pay him what he would now demand since he is almost 100%.

I know the Jets are HOT on him. Might even sign him this week.

If Miami wants to get back in the picture (and if the reports of his health are accurate then it might be wise) they should act very very VERY fast.

What was it he said? "They can't afford Surtain, who they gonna afford me?". He's going to have to do a 180 on his expectations.

I know. Thats why I was surprised to hear Cole say that. I think there is mutual interest on both sides. And I agree with Mike, the we better act fast if we decide to go in that direction.

I don't think Law will budge from his demands. Here's why:

1. He is represented by the Poston's who are probably still telling him he's the same player he was 3 years ago.

2. He's has 3 SB rings. He's not playing for the rings as much as he is a big payday.

3. He's already commented on how he expects to be making more money than Surtain.

4. Some team will overspend to get him to add "star power" to the team. The same way the Cardinals overpaid to bring Emmitt to Arizona a couple years ago.

Also, Cole hit on that as well. He said Law and Surtain are good friends. Houses are right around the corner from each other and they've always had this friendly rivalry about who should be paid more. It was said in jest at Patrick. Again, I think this is a longshot, just reporting what Im hearing.

Saban won't sign an aging cornerback who is nicked up for monster money. He just won't. So forget it.

We will not sign Law. Saban is looking for system/team players much like Patriots and Lightning. I believe he will look for players who WANT to play here and fit the system, not players who are seeking the most money. It will be much more of a family atmosphere.

Kind of like he wouldn't sign aging defnsive lineman for big money. You know nothing. If it helps us win Saban will sign him, none of you guiys know what Saban will and will not do.

Somebody here was quoted saying that the Carter deal sounds a lot bigger than it really is. He will never see most of that money. On the other hand, Law is looking to get paid in full. He's already made mention that the Chiefs gave him a big contract but the way it was broken down, he wouldn't see most of that money. He wants the money and he wants it upfront and guaranteed!

That's true, but look at the pats, if you treat them right and make good on promises most core players will stay even for a little less to be where they start, win, and are taken care of. That's why they get rid of so many high profile players and yet continue to succeed. That's what we need to do. Miami is a very desirable place to play, tradition, history, city, weather etc. Someone will always be willing to come here. If we can get a strong team atmosphere I think it could? happen (we haven't had that since Shula).

I agree. I don't personally believe that this is the kind of attitude he wants here. "you can't afford me" C'mon the pats survived with recievers at coner against the Colts. Please spare us comments made about yourself Mr. Law.

The longer time goes on, the better Law's position becomes. He gets healthier every day, and every day of practice brings a new risk that some team's starting corner will blow out a knee or look awful in practice, or whatever. He's in no hurry.

Hank said this morning that the Phins were real close to signing Lance Shulters. If that is true, I don't see how we'd be able to afford both.
