Jason Cole: Dolphins concerned about Tannehill

I'm not on either side of the issue. He is our QB this season no matter what, so may as well cheer for him and hope for the best. It's just weird that within 5 posts someone is already antagonizing the board...

At this point I agree with you. Being against the quarterback is like being on the bandwagon constantly. 70%+ of the time in this league if you are against your QB you are going to be right. Hopefully he figures it out and I think at this point he is ahead of the odds. Just not sure how much.

I'd be more concerned about Mike Wallace. Either way by the end of this season we'll know if Tannehill is part of the solution or part of the problem, not sure why it needs to be brought up daily.

My how Jason Cole has fallen...now he's commenting for Bleacher Report? From Senior NFL writer for Sports Illustrated to this...lol.

No excuses here. The team focused on working on the run game, and fitting in Wallace as well as Clay after all the time they have missed. That's what preseason is for.

i think the word "concerned" is not the right word to use. but it definitely will get clicks. I would say anxious is a better word. to see if he can take the next step. To be concerned, would mean the dolphins didn't have faith in him, and that would be dumb, during preseason, unless he's just not shown he can learn lazor's system.

Concerned is definitely the right word. They are concerned.

Joe Philbin and Dennis Hickey are going to be FIRED with extreme prejudice if Ryan Tannehill's passing efficiency is not much improved in 2014.

Not even, at this point they have to be concerned about the OL and LBs... That's our weakest spots by a mile.... Even if Wallace is overpaid and keeps having problem connecting deep with Tannehill, he s still useful in this offense and at WORSE a very good decoy... OL and LBs on this team might very well be a liability on this team.... And im far from a Wallace supporter...

and I'm one to jab at Wallace all the time, but this was a good game for him outside of the deep ball lapse where he just stopped running completely he was open all game

Jeez, the guy throw ONE INT all preaseason and suddenly its time to pull the fire alarm... Ya, it was a horrid INT, but it's not like he looked absolute trash all preseason. He has looked fine for the most part, outside of the bad INT and another missed Wallace connection.

I don't understand what the big deal is. I am just a stupid fan and I am nervous that Tannehill may not be a good QB simply because he hasn't proven it consistently. If my livelihood depended on Tannehill doing things he hasn't consistently demonstrated he can do I would be crapping in my pants until he starts to show he is the real deal as I am sure Philbin is. Isn't Cole just stating the obvious ? Does he expect that Philbin feels 100% comfortable with an unproven commodity that needs to improve for him to keep his job ? I mean lets be serious if Tannehill doesn't improve this whole thing gets blown up....

I'm just going to have to disagree. In games that matter, Tannehill has improved from year 1 to year 2. It would only be concerning if he stayed about the same, or did worse his second year, and the team stuck with him his 3rd year, to see if he can break out. Just because coaches are concerned about losing their jobs, doesn't mean they are concerned about Tannehill's ability to be a good QB. I'm sure oline is a big concern, LB's, RB's, etc. QB is probably their least CONCERN. I just look at the word "concern" as a negative word. Which shouldn't be labeled on Tannehill. going from a 81qbr to around 87 is not that extreme.

I think Hickey would be safe. Tannehill is not his hand picked guy.

I don't have any objection to what Cole had to say. While I do question what kind of sources he actually has within the Dolphins organization (because he burned some bridges down here), I'm pretty sure that they are concerned about Ryan Tannehill.

And they should be. He has a lot to prove this season and a lot of jobs are on the line.

Well if the inside ppl he's talking to is a coach not the night cleanup crew supervisor he may have a point. But when a reporter starts to use words like "incredibly concerned" to make their point, it smacks of total and complete BS so they can make their point seem more believable and rational.

I don't trust the media, I'm surprised there are still ppl out there that still do. We went through this with some of you and our GM search.

If this team doesn't win 10 games or have a credible playoff appearance this season, they're both toast, IMO.

I 100% believe the swirling Harbaugh rumors.

I don't think so. Too much evidence and speculation about Harbaugh for there not to be something there. And it's not like we hired Ozzie Newsome or Trent Baalke, it's Dennis Hickey. Hardly irreplaceable, and certainly not worth keeping over a proven winner like Harbaugh...
