Jason Cole: Dolphins concerned about Tannehill

don't really understand the point you are trying to make.

would that make you happy if I bashed Luck over preseason #s? does Ryan having similar #s make you feel better? it's probably not a good idea to ever compare Ryan to Luck.

he did get to a SB and multiple title games, he also carried teams to postseason w/ far less talent than Ryan had last year but it makes no sense to compare a top 5 all time QB to Ryan. That is not fair to Ryan and not fair to 90% of the QBs in NFL history.

so that makes Ryan better how?

You are the one who is suggesting Montana didn't have skill around him - this is FALSE - but you cannot admit it

Anyone on this forum who actually watched Dan, for his entire career, not just a few highlights knows what the Dolphins were missing when they faced the Jets and Bills - yes any monkey could tell you Dan carried the team to those Division championships (with a porous D that got winded by the POs) - Everyone who is a dolphin supporter from back when knows what Dan was missing a run game and a stout defense - anyone who puts RT and Marino in the same sentence is behind in their Football IQ.

RT brings out the better of an average group of skill players - anyone who tells you we have the best WRS in AFC needs some factual evidence to support it - NOT preseason

RT is not a transcendent QB of his era however, he needs lots of assistance as do the Russell Wilson's of this world

I really like how wv said yesterday Tannehill sucks, he made two horrendous throws then goes on to say Matt Moore makes us a playoff team...wv didn't mention that horrendous pick 6 Moore threw, against 2nd and 3rd stringers....the tanne haters are ridiculous.

I just re-watched the game today and realized the Tannehill INT and the throw by Moore that got Hazel killed were the same routes with the same coverage. Both bad decisions, both bad throws with obvious different results. But the reason Tannehill's looked so much worse was because he had a defender at his feet and threw off his back foot.

In my opinion they both deserve the same scrutiny for that decision but because Moore was benefited by a defensive penalty which resulted in a TD a few plays later he gets praise. In preseason decisions and execution are whats important, results are secondary.

Doesnt need to make Tannehill better. He is doing fine. It is the hypocrisy on this site that pisses me off.

There's really no point to even respond to Junc, he derails every thread he goes into by turning it into a jets/fins pissing match, he's an attention whore who gets off on riling us up, don't give him what he wants.

So Matt Ryan's offensive line and injuries to his primary weapons along with a soft sissy girl defense, had no bearing on that record?

Rookie contract is coming up, do you pay RT franchise QB money right now? If not, then concerns are valid.
I've seen growth, but it's not enough to warrant franchise type money.

I would sign Tannehill now, get him cheaper - than roll the dice... absolutely -

That short money would not fly with his agent. If he's as good as his super fans believe, franchise money will be expected.

Another known Dolphin hater......loves every opportunity to stir the pot.

I remember the days when we used to wait till the season played out before we past judgements...this constant negativity seriously takes Alot of the fun out of this game.

Too much over analysis and rush to judgement.

Well, I was asking MadDog because I think it cuts right to the heart of the matter that he brought up. I am not asking for us to surround our QB with elite talent, I am asking us to surround our QB with NFL credible talent. I honestly don't believe that we had a capable NFL starting OL or capable NFL starting RB last season.

Now you put your QB in that situation where he's got terrible blocking and no rushing game, well, he's got great coaches and top tier receiving talent, right?

When a team replaces 4 starting offensive linemen and a total of 6 new linemen will likely make the team and brings in a new RB to start, there shouldn't be any argument at all. It is not even a matter of opinion at this point. The team readily acknowledged where the problems were. OL, RB, OC, and depth at WR. Not really that hard to understand. Anyone who claims otherwise must think that the coaches and GM are in on a scheme to hide Tannehill's faults.

Jesus christ, this whole thread is cancer.

Umm maybe you forgot that Dan the Man didn't win the SB... Not to forget the crazy 4th Q comebacks he led week after week because he didn't have a run game, and stout D playing behind him

That post was 'tongue in cheek'. Nothing serious about it.

I don't worry about preseason #s but those other QBs have had regular season success, Ryan has not. I still don't think his play this preseason will tell you whether he will succeed or not this season but the other guys get a benefit of the doubt that Ryan has not yet earned.

I didn't suggest that but he didn't have incredible weapons around him for the first SB. Dwight Clark was a good WR, he didn't have much else. people always throw out Jerry Rice as if Rice made Montana, most don't realize he won 2 SBs w/o Jerry.

you had well above average skill players and w/ better QB play you easily make the playoffs last year.

There's really no point to even respond to Junc, he derails every thread he goes into by turning it into a jets/fins pissing match, he's an attention whore who gets off on riling us up, don't give him what he wants.

yep, I was just baiting folks by telling them preseason #s don't mean anything and backing Ryan.

if some posters just actually read my posts we'd have some fun, intelligent discussions rather than the typical childish shots at me.

Why are people questioning Wallace, him and Tannehill were money on most everything besides the deep ball.

GO routes are overblown around here.

they weren't aggressive in going after Moreno, he was a bargain, low cost player. if they thought a huge upgrade needed to be made maybe they would have been more aggressive? the only area they had to be aggressive and were was at OL. they hd plenty of talent, they spent a boatload last offseason to upgrade and they did so.

Did that Jet Troll really suggest Marino didn't have superior O-lines and wide receivers than Tannehill?

What a joke he is.
