Jason Cole: Tunsil has pre-arthritic ankle condition; contributed to draft slide

“According to multiple sources I talked to, Tunsil has a pre-arthritic condition in his ankle and that is one of the concerns that came up late in the draft process,” Cole said. “In fact, talking to two of those sources, what they say about Tunsil’s ankle is that it may be worse than Myles Jack’s knee in the long run … and there’s always disagreement about medical findings and what doctors believe are gonna happen with certain injuries but one of those sources said it’s a concern, but not a big concern, and certainly not as big as Jack’s knee … how bad it is is up to interpretation.”

To recap, Tunsil has an ankle condition that may or may not be a big concern, depending on which anonymous source you talk to.

All I know is that I've suffered from gout in my ankle for years and when I get an attack I can't even walk. If this supposed "pre-arthritic condition" could lead to actual arthritis in the ankle any time soon, that would severely hamper his ability to play that position.

I hate this nebulous drivel. To be a cynic, he talked to 32 sources. "Multiple sources (3) claim Tunsil has a pre-arthritic condition. In what appears a contradiction, " two of those sources . . . say Tunsil’s ankle may be worse than Myles Jack’s knee in the long run, but one of those sources said it’s a concern, but not a big concern." He doesn't say how many sources had NO concerns. I find it more likely, since Tunsil slipped to #13 to to the weed, all those above Miami had no concerns and we know some below Miami were hoping he'd fall further. Sounds like more had him very high on their board than had 'concerns.'

It is a little suspect that Jason Cole is the only one reporting this... Are we to believe he has sources that no other writer associated with football has?

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL ... I call BULL****! Everyone knows the bong video is the reason.

Isn't everyone prearthritic? What does that even mean? You either have it or you don't. So stupid.

Try Allopurinol, the generic version works fine.

In layman language, you're right. In medical jargon, there are signs/symptoms of, let's call it, early arthritis. Usually this is in conjunction with family history. Note, however, there are varieties of arthritis and 'pre-arthritic' disease course and rapidity vary widely. I find it odd a condition that could be 'worse than Jack's' had no mention in the press pre-draft.

Well this is ironic.

Osteoarthritis is a condition that develops over a long period of time. Decades, in many cases. What we call "arthritis" usually only describes the late stages of the condition. Before then -- when you have symptoms but they haven't progressed to those late stages -- it's called "pre arthritis".

So no, not everyone has it.

I actually finally got a prescription for it. Started taking it a few weeks ago and I hope that's the end of my attacks. Gout is an insufferable bitch. I got an attack on the day of a flight once and I was forced into a wheelchair. It completely knocks you on your ass.

I was about to say that the Bills made a very Dolphins-like draft pick by taking an injured Shaq Lawson. Now it looks as if the Dolphins made a very Dolphins like draft pick by taking Tunsil. What are the chances he undergoes a "procedure" over the summer like Devante Parker did?
