Denver's Jason Elam is going into free agency as hot as any kicker in the NFL. During the past two seasons, Elam was 37-for-37 on field-goal attempts inside 40 yards and made 90 percent of his overall attempts. The Broncos are talking to Elam about an extension, but no deal appears imminent.

Interesting. What do you guys think about dumping our overly opinionated, mouthy kicker, and getting someone better?

Note: This is a spin off from this thread:

1. Jay Feely is not overly opinionated, if by that you mean he has an opinion.

2. Jay Feely is not mouthy, if by that you mean he speaks to the media and answers questions. His answers have been nothing but honest, appropriate responses. He has thrown nobody under the bus, like he easily could have, and is actually the team's player rep with the NFLPA and is quite well-respected.

3. Apart from some kick off issues, he had a stellar season, while Elam is aging.

So, no.

Only thing that did wrong with Feely was Cameron, not going for the field goal on many situations to put points on the board.

All of the above. Being the player rep means he talks, it's his job.

What is all this anger at feeley about? I think he did a great job.
Keep him.

I believe he has the same down point that Feeley does, which is on kickoffs. So why waste money on an older guy who pretty much brings the exact same thing Feeley brings to the table?

I think the Broncos will keep him.He has been solid kicking for them even in Mile Highs elements.

Kicker is not a position we need to fix right now. With So many glaring issues and limited free-agency dollars unless the players have a problem with him, and the coaches care I would not expect any movement on that front.

Mike Vanderjagt plays for the Dolphins? ;)

Seriously though, as it's been pointed out, Elam's starting to get up there in years. I like Feely, he was quite accurate this year (21/23 on the year), so I don't see this as a position of need for Miami at this time.

So telling the media that he would not want Ricky Williams on his team falls under the purview of his player rep duties?

Nope, ill keep him. Elam will command WAAAAY more than Feely and IMO Feely is almost just as good

A lot of fans didn't want Ricky back either, that was their OPINION, this is Feeley's OPINION, what's so wrong about it?
