Hadn't really spent much time looking in to this trade but I didn't realise the 2008 6th round we sent to Dallas was spent on Erik Walden. Neither did I realise the Thomas pick came from Dallas.

So Dallas ended up giving Ferguson, Thomas and Walden for our 2009 6th. If Thomas ends up being the pro-bowler some people seem to think he might be, this would be one of the best trades in recent memory!

For a second there... When I read the title of the thread I thought he had been traded... My heart stopped just for one moment.

I actually thought he was going to propose a Jason Ferguson trade. I was getting ready to give her the "old 1 star."

Regardless of Thomas or not, still a great trade.
Not terrible for the Cowboy's either, they unloaded a huge unecessary cap hit.

That trade certainly worked out for us. So basically we got a starting TE, linebacker, Nose tackle and a special teamer all for a 4th and a 6th. Not bad.

Miami definitely won those trades with Dallas last season

Well trades are not always about getting proper value. Sometimes its about saving cap space NOt one of the three players that Dallas traded us were going to be major factors for them so they got some value. Ferguson and Akin might have been cut and Fasano was not in their plans bigtime either. So better to get something rather than nothing and take a cap hit.

No way the cowboys would have cut Ferguson, they may have tried to redue his contract. They have issues at the nose guard now. It was a bad move on there part thinking that Tank could play nose. The guy they have starting is undersized and should be used at different positions along the front line to save his body. He's good but not good in stopping the Run. We clearly got what we wanted with value in the trade. The cowboys gave up depth and only got a 4th in return. I hope we find another trading partner this year to give us that type of deal.

Wasn't Erik Walden a free agent signing half way into the season?
