From the Miami Herald this morning:

Now that Saban has departed, quarterbacks coach Jason Garrett is being granted permission to speak with other NFL teams. The Dolphins have granted permission to the Cleveland Browns to talk to Garrett about their offensive-coordinator position.

Saban rejected a request by the St. Louis Rams last offseason when the team asked to talk to Garrett about its offensive-coordinator position.

I hope he stays. He would be a very good OC.

Maybe he would be but what do you base this on, has Qb play improved that much under this guy. I personally could care less if he left especially if he is getting promoted because he hasn't shown enough in my opinion to be our offensive coordinator.

To be fair no-one can turn crap into steak.

Yea, but you have to have something to judge a guy on and if you look at Harrington's play he was no better than he was with the lions, probably worse at times.

No big loss there. It's not like our QB's were lighting it up under him as QB's coach. He was extremely mediocre if you as me, and we can do better....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

It would be a crying shame to lose him .Many experts project him as a future head coach but he needs to build up experience to get to that point.

Thats true, but Id like to think NFL GM's and Head Coaches know what they are doing. If they are looking at him then they obviously know something about his offensive mind we done. As fans we dont get to talk to him or pick his brain or any of that good stuff.

Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't . Some of them make decision based on whom someone coached under. Garrett was a coach under Linehan and they might feel he has learned enough to be given a chance at offensive coordinator. Time will tell if they are right.

Who are these "many experts"??...

He's merely a QB's coach at this stage, and not a very good one at that. I wont be crying when he's gone....

How much experience did Cowher have before he became the Steelers headcoach? Garrett maybe the missing piece we are looking for....if we only start looking inward. Why go after people who have either failed already at being a headcoach or have no more experience than Garrett.

Would all those experts be stitting around his at his Thanksgiving day dinner??

Bill Cowher was the defensive coordinator of the Kansas City chiefs before becoming the Steelers head coach. Before that he was a special teams and secondary coach.
Jason Garrett has only been a QB coach and has no experience in calling plays and that IMO makes him unqualified to even be considered for the HC job.

Anyone is better than MM ... why not give him a chance -- he certainly should now the capabilities of this offense ...

Our QBs haven't been so great ever since Marino left we could have had Brees or McNair if it wsn't for Saban being so cheap. But anyway this guy didn't really help our QBs so if he wants to leave just like Saban then let him and if he goes to Clevland it isn't like their ganing anything out of him.

Garrett couldn't really help our QB's since they were already so set in their ways. Culpepper was sack happy as usual and Harrington, though slightly improved, still turned the ball over a little too much. But he'll make a good OC in Cleveland considering how bad their offense is.
