We all see Jason La Canfora's disingenuous approach to the Miami GM search. He tells a twisted, one sided story. He's obviously known to have had a comical history of mistakes. But, here, he has gone well past mistakes into lies so that he can rig his story to fit the narrative he has concocted attacking Miami's search.

First of all, La Canfora did not mention Lake Dawson as a finalist.

Also continue to hear Dennis Hickey (TB) had a very strong interview. Khan (PIT), Xanders (DET), Dawson (TEN) are not finalists
This was wrong. Here is an interview with Armando from Thursday morning where Armando states with complete authority that Lake Dawson is a finalist and will be interviewed. His blog said something similar. This is all well before Ray Farmer pulled out, mind you.

Fast forward to Thursday afternoon, when Ray Farmer imploded. La Canfora was tweeting about Farmer pulling out. Earlier in the week, La Canfora was talking about concerns that interviewees had about the "structure" in Miami. It looks like Farmer's people were using La Canfora as a tool. La Canfora was used to trumpet Farmer as a great candidate. Then, without using Farmer's name, the concerns about the structure came out.

Dolphins notifying candidates of finalists for GM job. Ray Farmer (CLE) remains a frontrunner sources said. Brian Gaine internal candidate

It's not tough to connect the dots. La Canfora who earlier missed Lake Dawson as one of the finalists, then suggested that Miami had "now" (meaning after Farmer bailed) looked back at Dawson as if Miami had egg on its collective face.

The Dolphins have now reached back out to Lake Dawson (Titans) about a 2nd interview for their GM job. he has accepted

La Canfora went on to call it a "renewed" candidacy in Miami. However, as noted above, Armando had already clarified strenuously that Lake Dawson was always a strong candidate and had already been tabbed for a second interview.

Something to keep in mind regarding Lake Dawson's renewed candidacy in Miami; Carl Peterson, who is advising ownership, drafted Dawson in KC

La Canfora's use of "renewed" here is highly disingenuous. There is nothing "renewed" about the interest, particularly since La Canfora was talking in the context of Farmer bailing. This misleads the public.

Now today, La Canfora was on WQAM and again talks about Lake Dawson as Miami crawling back to him as if this all happened because Ray Farmer bailed on Miami.

All in all, you have a reporter who has developed a one-sided narrative about Miami, but he has gone well beyond making mistakes to being disingenuous at best. I'm not sure how CBS monitors its reporters and whether it has an ombudsman of some type. However, I do not think a large media organization like CBS would take kindly to a reporter taking such liberties with the truth to mislead the public in this manner. There is absolutely nothing wrong with fair criticism. We all know that Miami has not run like a model franchise. However, stick to legitimate criticisms and facts.

His twitter was dead silent when it was reported that nick caserio woukd interview... God forbid a positive report...

Reporters do not report the story...they create the story, and then side step.

Unfortunately what saves him is he doesn't put his name on anything. He uses an extremely large umbrella that he can always back his way out of his reports no matter how bad they are (typically he is and had been horrendous) . Unfortunately this is now what is become of sporting journalism.

We need to ask Dan Marino how the hell he landed his gig at CBS.

Jason La Canfora picked Miami to lose every single game this season in the CBS experts picks. That's right, he literally picked Miami to go 0-16.

I don't know what's up with the guy but it's obvious he is not a Dolphins fan.

Great Track-back. But..to be fair, Armando admitted HE was wrong too, and corrected his mistake as soon as he found out who the real remaining candidates were. They make mistakes.

.........WHAT??? Are you serious

I can't even make this stuff up. Go to the CBS Sports website and check their experts picks. I think he picked against Miami every single week.

I want to say there was one game that he picked Miami to win but nope, not even one, IIRC.

You are right JDW, he didn't pick us in one single game. Obviously, he has it out for the Miami Dolphins. Even Stevie Wonder can see that he has a complete bias against the team.

LAC prays the Wells report makes the Fins look bad.

I wonder if he is on Kraft's payroll to stir up as much trouble as he can. He has a bit of a vendetta against the Dolphins and one wonders why? You realize that teams have employees who try to dig up information on their competitors. They also build relationships with reporters as part of the process of collecting information.
Kraft and Belichick have both cultivated an image of integrity after the videotaping of signals, but make no mistake they are devious and it would be nothing to get some mignons slip some money on a regular basis to a reporter who doesn't let truth get in the way of a good story.
