Jason Lieser's Take On Coach Gase

He should get an extension, hell according to some of you he made Tannehill look good.

Extend him? He means like what we did with Jones and Tannehill?.....lol........they're out there man, you just need to find them

Talk about extending him is a stretch, but I can see retaining him for the term of his contract which is five years.

Definitely no extension. Wouldn't fire him either. Maybe Tannenbaum should be fired. Let Gase play 16 with a real #1 starting QB and we'll see.

The article is spot on

I agree 100% Gase can do more with less than any other NFL coach right now. He has his deficiencies (as we all do) and I am curious to see if he can realize them and address them this off-season.

I think the D can be a strength with a new DC and a little tweaking.
The offense needs to be given to a vet OC this off-season (you know the coaching tree will shake someone lose).

That leaves him to address roster turnover and team deficiencies.

The team is 5-5. He made the playoffs the last time RT17 was healthy for most of the season. Look at the two teams playing tonight and tell me they wouldn't be at least 7-3 if they had either of those two QBs playing for Miami. It's a QB driven league. It changes everything. It covers up a lot. Keep the head coach, change the defensive scheme and coordinator.

This article ignores all the other problems some of us have seen and spoken about for longer than just this season.

Slow starts, lethargic play, Run/Pass imbalances, questionable play calling, bizarre personnel and staff decisions none of these are just this years issues nor due just to injuries. These issues and more have been present from day 1 of Gase’s tenure. The injuries are just another excuse for Gase.

Our season in a capsule was the image of him sitting alone on the bench trying to figure out what is going wrong with his beloved “system”. This spoke volumes to me, it told me that his ego is completely out of control that he doesn’t have Loggins or even the QB there not to mention that he had no idea what was happening on the field.

I generally dislike “system” coaches because they cannot adapt to things like injuries and waste years getting their guys to run said “system”. Unless Gase finds another Peyton Manning it seems his “system” may never run right.

Obviously I can’t stand Gase, not from day one but I do want him to succeed, i want to be proven wrong. The thought of giving him an extension as mentioned in the article is nauseating though.
