Meant to start this thread a while ago but announcer just reminded me of his stats.

First off, he leads the NFL in Field Goal accuracy, and also leads in Touchback percentage from kick-offs (81.6%).

On top of that, deep analytic stats I read on an NFL analytical site but for the life of me cannot track it down, but it evaluates players (kickers in this case) on depth stats and analytics not often observed.

One thing that stood out to me which I have noticed all season is Sanders leads all NFL kickers BY FAR on kick centering-ease of FGs-PATs, meaning, he has kicked the most FGs and PATs straight down the middle between the uprights and closest to the middle line trajectory between the goal posts. That means he is DEADLY accurate. Most kickers sneak FGs and PATs inside the posts or off to right and left most often. He does not. Not many nail biter bender kicks at all, instead, right down middle. It is a stat that has not been measured until analytics got in more depth. Says a lot for sure!

Anyway, great draft pick he was, and our kicker for years to come.

I guess he shut up all those doubters from preseason

Special teams are typically this team's saving grace. Rizzi always has a solid, prepared group.

Yes, it's been obvious from the outset of the regular season that Sanders has a pure stroke with a terrific consistent little draw. That's what enables him to dissect the center so dependably. When we bet field goals man to man in Las Vegas it is always which side of dead center, not whether or not the kick will be made, so I pay attention to that all the time. On very long kicks we would switch to whether or not successful.

Sanders was a bit hurried in his footwork in preseason so initially I preferred the other guy. Once Sanders relaxed and slowed down his form has been basically perfect.

They really hadn't touted his stats during broadcasts until today. That 17/18 almost looked too good and naturally he missed as soon as the hype attached.

But I don't think it was nerves or anything. That entire game today played out like late season home games before Gase, when everything went wrong and no magic at the end to save us.
