you do realize that rodgers didnt get picked until the 24th pick right? its one of those cases where 23 other teams made the same mistake. Not saying that Saban wasnt a turd but being realistic i think any QB that we did take would have been destroyed by that line we had.

perhaps, but maybe talent just rises? maybe cream rises to the top? maybe this is how cam newtons supposed to blow and everybody is so shocked by what happened? why? i mean did last year not count? all this stupid throwing motion bull****. the same was said about phillip rivers coming out, oh he cant play - hes got a sidearm delivery- hell be inaccurate even tho he completed 70% in college or close to it. now his release is like marinos - its a joke. can the guy deliver the ball? is he a qb? can he lead a team? thats all that matters.

aaron rodgers would have been fine in miami, and we did blow the pick, and yes 20 other teams did as well. but prior to the draft he was projected to go 1 or 2 and we decided to take a running back 2nd, and years later a left tackle and continue to pass on franchise qbs. ryan mallett will probably haunt us as well in time. no reason not to take the guy as far as he fell.

i agree we should take chances sometimes but usually when we do it blows up in our face ex. culpepper. Ithink the biggest mistake was passing on earl thomas or even taking ryan mathews wouldnt have been so bad.

Sparano isn't even in Saban's league in terms of football IQ or coaching prowess. Saban is an innovator and a defensive trend setter.... Rex Ryan gets a lot of his principles and defensive philosophy from Saban. They work together, and communicate/share ideas in the off season.

Tom Brady hated to play Miami when Saban was here.... he never threw for 300 yards against Miami when Saban was the coach, and never scored 30 points.... even completely shut out once in the 21-0 game. Brady averaged 132 yards/game with 5 TD's and 3 Int's in his 4 matchups with Saban.

It'd be hard for any coach to win if your quarterbacks are Gus Frerotte, Culpepper, Joey Harrington, and Cleo Lemon... even Belichek. Saban was shafted by the medical staff and Wayne Huizenga on the Brees deal.

I don't think Jason Taylor spoke any revelation here.... Tony Sparano has no options outside of Bill Parcells giving him a job.

Not surprising. Hate on Saban the person all you want but he was a much better coach than Sparano. The guy knew defense and actually had a specialty, defense. Sparano has no expertise besides offensive line and he s clearly nothing but a sham in even that small area of a football team. Sparano only got the job cause of his friendship with Parcells. Its classic who u know not what u know. The guy will never be a head coach again, he ll never be so much as a coordinator because he s just an o line coach and a ****ty one at that. Cameron failed here with little talent and a ton of injuries. His QB and best player got hurt but at least he knew how to coach one side of the ball. What's next? Bring in a strength coach to be our HC?

You guys can all defend Saban's "Coaching prowress and Football IQ," but the fact is he was a failure in the NFL. Sparano by winning the division his first year has accomplished more than Saban has ever in the NFL. It doesn't matter what Saban has done in college, Sparano has done more for the Miami Dolphins than Saban ever had.

Spot on. Hit on some of the same points at the same time. If Sparano were smart he would've done a lot more this off season to improve. He should know he ll never coach again in the nfl once he gets fired. Then again he s a millionaire who got an extension and he can always go coach some desperate university team.

saban is a better coach than sparano and its not even debatable. sparanos division title means nothing. look at this team since and any division title when brady doesnt play has be followed by an *

randy mueller got destroyed by fans for his one draft here. but it turns out it was awfully good.

ted ginn is one of the best returners in the game - who cares where he was drafted he IS NOT a bust. hes a dangerous weapon that can win 2 games a year and has proven it

john beck is still in the league and had to overcome parcells bull**** and camerons terrible season to do that. they wanted him to sit a year. he needed to sit a year and was rushed into action. shanahan loves the guy, and he may end up the redskins qb eventually. so far grossman has looked pretty good for shanny. so the jury is certainly still out, he hasnt proven anything. but he also has stuck. to this point he is every bit as good a pick as brady quinn (and they worked with brady before the draft - they didnt want him). so forget beck....all im saying is hes not out of the league and he is going to get a chance to play in washington. that i better than brady at #9

paul solai is our franchise player.

samson satele is starting for a very good raiders rushing team

brandon fields is a fantastic punter.

he also got good value for chris chambers which allowed us to pick henne the following year. so if henne pans out hes here because of mueller

he got crucified for this draft and it wasnt a bad draft by any means. not even close. if every draft brought assets like this ( and he was short on picks as well) for 10 years in a row? even 5 or 6, and u have an awfully good team.

And Saban is still a better head coach. Was he a prick, yes. A liar, yes. Was he a better coach than Sparano, yes.

my whole point was jason taylor plays for this guy right now. hes played for these other coaches. one parcells interviewed and then passed up for sparano and then tried to take credit for his hiring in new york - parcells u jack off if u thought he was gonna be so good why the hell didnt YOU hire him??? and why are u advising a division rival?? unreal.

taylor plays for the guy and not even a mention of his name, not even a hint. its pretty sad he made it a point to mention rex ryan when he plays against the guy now.

its pretty clear, if it wasnt already to everyone that watches football, rex ryan is a better coach than sparano.

this interview was pretty revealing, and its not often guys spout off about their coach or former coach in the media. ricky williams did it in the offseason and continues to. brandon marshall did early last year. taylor did in the offseason as well - he agreed with ricky williams comments, and ricky had good things to say about saban previously - not sparano

these guys know. they know sparano isnt the guy for the job. most of them probably like the guy. but they dont honestly think hes gonna help them get it done. u see how the team quit on him last year? u see that defensive performance?

we need to turn up some acorns. we need to find the right coach

Well obviously it does matter... what he done in college is what made him the hottest coaching commodity every offseason. NFL teams were beating down his door every year to come to the NFL but he kept turning them down. Not to mention his track record as the defensive coordinator in the NFL several years ago. He declined Wayne Huizenga half a dozen times but Wayne wouldn't quit.

People like you can continuously point to that worthless division crown in 2008 with a last place schedule and Tom Brady being out for the season as a means to defend this current clown, but it won't work. He got blown out by Matt Cassell when he didn't have the Wildcat surprise to help him to another fluke win. Chad Pennington won that division title, not Tony Sparano.

Sparano is 14-19 in his last 33 games... with several embarrassing blowout losses, record setting performances by the opposition, and epic disasters re-occuring over and over on a national stage. Miami has won ONE home game in the last dozen games or so.

Eric Mangini went 10-6 his first season as a head coach and made the playoffs too... I would say he has an empty chair beside him for Sparano at ESPN, but I doubt they want anything to do with the trifecta either. Parcells is enough.

Jason Taylor knows Sparano is a dunce, Stephen Ross knows it, which is why he tried to replace him. Ricky Williams knew it. Jeff Ireland knew it. Bill Belichek knows it.

Saban had a .468 winning percentage in his last 32 games as head coach for the Dolphins... Tony Sparano has a .424 winning percentage in his last 33 games as head coach.

I don't think Tony Sparano has to worry about any Universities asking for his phone number to offer him $4 million a year to come be the head coach of their program once Miami finally puts the boot to his a**.

amen. another question is - if there is no pending lockout would sparano have survived this offseason?

Me and you see eye to eye on a lot from what I've seen in your short time here, you ve been busy BTW. 100 posts in a couple weeks, took me 3 yrs to get 700 :). I just can't get on board with taking Ginn n Beck, especially where we took them and I was one who thought Ginn was worth keeping to return kicks.

anybody see this the other day? forgot to bring it up. pretty telling tho. taylor was asked who the best coach hes played for is.

jason didnt want to answer, but when pressed said jimmy johnson was the best, but that nick saban was 1b and rex ryan was 1c.

You must have tuned out after that because he went on to say Jim Zorn 1d, Dave Wannstedt 1e and Cam Cameron 1f

Last season he said Rex was the best coach he played for.
