see thats where u are wrong. BECAUSE you didnt watch him 16 games a year. u are ASSUMING thats how good he was, just like the media. and yes tackle numbers dont matter. but there was not a better linebacker in the middle of the field in zone coverage than zach thomas. he was the BEST in the game. and his tackle numbers just tell part of the story. im telling you zach thomas may have been better than ray lewis in their prime. and if ray lewis was 1A at one time zach thomas was CERTAINLY 1B. it was that close. ray seperated himself because of his longevity (but zach played a long time also!) and the ring. but you honestly just dont understand the guys greatness. because your perspective is the media perspective. go back and watch all his games i guarantee u see him in a new light. thomas was the heart and soul of that defense - even moreso than jt at least until it got later in their careers.
and jt didnt get it wrong. it doesnt matter how deep he got with rex. u guys put too much emphasis on your afc championship games. it was a nice run. u beat a couple teams. is it more impressive than bowing out in the first round? yes it is. two years ago u shouldnt have even BEEN IN the playoffs for one thing, yet somehow this gets overlooked. it does take some measure of good fortune sometimes. and im sure u honestly think youll go that deep again this year. its not gonna happen, and youll be playing playoff games on the road - if u even get in. odds say that fortune turns for you, for one thing BECAUSE the jets simply arent as good a team as theyve been given credit for the past 2 years or this year. they do deserve credit for whats happened. rex does deserve credit. but they simply arent as good as u and the media think.
rex is a great coach no doubt. id take jimmy johnson all day everyday over rex. and jason knows. hes been there. he did say it was 1b 1c with saban and rex. so hes saying there isnt a ton seperating the 2, and considering he was asked ONLY who the best coach he played for is. its saying a lot in and of itself that he thought he had to mention rex
I saw him enough. I walways go back to the example from 2005. Zach did nothing in that game, all his tackles were 7-8 yds down the field yet his tackle #s were fairly high(around 10 or so) and dolphin fans told me how great he was. He had a terrible game but b/c he had good tackle #s people thought he had a great game. He was a really good player but not a great player and he was a leader of some of the biggest choking D's of all time.
Zach was nowhere near Ray Lewis at any point in their careers.
Heart and soul of an overrated D that always folded in big spots.
JJ has 2 rings but he didn't do a great coaching job in Miami. JJ dallas better than rex but rex is better than JJ Miami.
ray earned the talk. but i guess being a new york fan in general has certainly warped ur perspective. see new york fans seem to think just because a player is talked about HE EARNED it or a player isnt talked about its cause he didnt, and thats GARBAGE. see sometimes just playing in a certain place (ie new york) players get more attention than they deserve. what about a guy like deangelo hall? who get outright cut by his team in his prime? yet goes to probowl etc. because he has some interceptions, but isnt all that great of a corner?
do u think sanchez deserves even 1/5 of the pub he gets? u would think hes the second coming - the ways hes perceived. when in fact hes not even a good quarterback. yet the dude is bullet proof in the media. why??? the dude had 15 interceptions DROPPED last year. 15. henne had ONE dropped. yet look at their numbers. if those two stats were reversed what are they saying about henne? and what do they say about sanchez? but thats how they played. sanchez got extremely extremely lucky, and henne had some bad luck.
so that argument is garbage. poor players get talked about like they are great all the time, while great players sometimes go unnoticed.
even in this case with jt u are trying to pigeon hole the guy and its ridiculous. JT has always had a knack for making a huge play when the game was on the line. he has done it over and over and over again. he hasnt played on very great teams and THATS why he doesnt have the rest of it. id love to put up "leslie o'neils" numbers when it comes to the amount of strip sacks and TDs and int returned for TDs that JT had.
and perhaps leslie oneil is a guy that simply didnt get the attention he deserved. most of his career was in san diego right? send sanchez to seattle and see what happens. first of all if he got ANY attention at all. it would be that he sucks. and thats the truth.
ur wrong about JT, hes getting in right away, and there is no doubt. and playing that season in new york and going on dancing with the stars didnt hurt him. and jt isnt the same player. he wasnt the same player in new york either. but he still got some spotlight.
hell get in no doubt. and even the case u TRY to make against him. its so baseless. JTs getting in. Zach isnt - but he should. name me a middle linebacker in the last 20 years besides ray that better than zach thomas. i rest my case. football has only been played the last 100 years or so. the hall of fame only dates really over the last 50 years (the super bowl era - yes i know older players are in. im saying the standards. how players are measured. the "formula" has kinda been developed in the last 50) so that being the case and zach thomas is one of the 2 best middle linebackers in the game during half that period. it would be pretty ridiculous to say he DIDNT belong. yet he wont get in.
Sanchez is vastly underrated, give me a guy w/ lesser #s who makes plays to win games over a stat guy who doesn't any day. You act like people talk about Sanchez like he is one of the best QBs, no one talks like that b/c he isn't but he's the QB of an elite franchise so he will get talked about.
Stop posting silly stats, whehn they start counting dropped recs and dropped TDs we'll worry about dropped INTs. That's a what if stat, it's meaningless.
JT makes huge plays w/ the game on the line when the games aren't big, where was he in all your playoff games? where was he in the late season big games? He disappeared. He was a great player w/ no presure on him but in big spots he couldn't perform.
I guarantee you if he ever gets in it will be many years after he is eligible(unless he hits the fountain of youth and has his 2 best seasons). Again, there are better pass rushers not in, until those guys get in Jason doesn't have a chance.
Many teams have played 3-4s in the last 20 years so there haven't been many great MLBs but he's clearly behind Lewis and Urlacher.
