Well, you can call me crazy..But everyday I see posts of scrubs/rejects getting released and we want to sign them..Webster is not a reject

I'm sure Jason Webster will help our secondary even though he was a dissapointment in Atlanta. We need all the help we can get for Randy Moss, Lee Evans, and L. Coles.

He would beat Travis Daniels for sure and start opposite Will Allen. Maybe he needs a change of scenery.

Just to add to this, theres a connection there as well, as Brett Maxie (our safeties coach) was his DBs coach in Atlanta.

I wouldnt mind bringing him in either, especially with Goodman's shoulder issues.

He'll be 30 years old come September, he wouldn't be a significant upgrade over what we already have.

I'll take my chances with Will Allen, Jason Allen, Travis Daniels, Shirdonya Mitchell and Andre Goodman (even if he's not 100%).

Please tell me you didnt just include Shirdonya Mitchell in that list. That guy was (is) a project, has injury issues and was a "Saban" guy, much like Manny and Marcus. He is no sure thing to make this team. Michael Lehan is certainly ahead of him on the depth chart at this point. And as you mentioned, Goodman has developed a recurring shoulder issue, which is never a good thing.

I think this addition would make sense in alot of ways. While a guy who is 30 is certainly not past his prime, you also forget we are very young in the secondary. A stabilizing presence in the classroom and on the practice field could be a very important ingredient... even if Webster comes in and plays nickel or dime. Regardless of how you look at it, this is a veteran CB in this league who has shown he can play, who has come available in mid-May. You can be sure we'll take a look at the guy. Cant hurt - competition is never a bad thing.

He wouldn't be bad as a nickle/dime guy either. Travis could slide inside and he could go outside. If goodman's shoulder is going to linger better to get some insurance now.

Who cares that he was a "Saban" guy? He's nowhere near the "project" that Marcus Vick was and he's not fat and unmotivated like Manny Wright. He blew out his knee 2 years ago, atleast he's been able to hit the field again and perform on the field.

Mitchell was a projected to go between rounds 2-4 before his injury. He had legit 4.3 speed before he blew out his knee, he seems to be 100% as he's playing at a very high level for the Frankfurt Galaxy. Mitchell's upside is atleast that of a good #4 cb.

Lehan is a decent #5 cb, nothing more. He's 1 inch taller than Mitchell, his best 40 time at the combine was 4.64. Lehan may start the year ahead of Mitchell on the depth chart, but only because he knows the defense. Mitchell should beat him out by October.

It matters in the sense that this staff has no loyalties to the guy, and may not see what Nick saw. Its been two years now, and nothing. You have to soon wonder if he will ever get it back. Maybe, but its not a sure thing. Why go into the season with question marks at the position like we did last season, and end up with guys projected as dime guys getting extended playing time? You can never have enough CBs, and last season proved it for us. If Mitchell comes back and impresses, thats even better. But his potential shouldnt keep us from adding another player who can contribute at the position. Its not every day you get a guy cut, at a position of need, this late in the offseason. I dont think it speaks about Webster's abilities as much as it does Petrino and his staff performing a complete overhaul of the roster and the schemes.

i think we have bigger issues then secondary but i would sign him . right now i am starting to worry more about our offense . since we are losing ricky and have already lost randy mc. so i think the qb and wr corp is my biggest corncern .

Even if management doesn't see what Saban apparently saw, they would be blind not to see he (Mitchell) has significantly more talent than Lehan. A healthy Shirdonya Mitchell is too good not to make the team. Jason Webster would be a decent 1 year signing, but it's not really a pressing need.

I thought mitchell was struggeling in nfl europe... please correct me if i'm wrong... I too had high hopes for mitchell ... lets hope for the best!!!

Not a PRESSING need, but would be a nice pickup at this point in the offseason. Cant imagine it being expensive.

No argument from here with the Mitchell vs. Lehan comparison, but Mitchell is a wildcard at this point. If he returns to form, no question he makes the team. But you cant rely on it, sadly. Enter Lehan and/or Webster.

I believe he's leading the team in passes defended and he's returned 1 INT for a TD (82 yards). The last game I saw, the opposing team only threw his way once.........and Mitchell defended that pass.

All we need is another often injured player. Webster has not played a full season since 2002 and just had hernia surgery (misdiagnosed earlier as a torn groin muscle).

You haven't been paying attention. Frankfurt plays again this weekend. Watch Mitchell play. He is a starting corner for the Galaxy. He has talent. He has skill. He has speed. He is one great open feild tackler. The experience he is getting in NFL Europa is invaluable. Both he and PK Sam are going to make the roster this year and have an impact. Get yourself some firsthand knowledge this weekend, The NFL network shows these games at least twice during the week.

It's like many of us have been saying for months, the Dolphins don't need anymore depth at CB. An elite corner would be great, but we just don't need any more decent DB's, we have those guys, and a few of them still have a lot of upside. Guys like Jason Allen and Mitchell.

Can't be any worse than Michael Lehan. Daunte Culpepper on a stationary bike can cover better than him.
