Jasone Cole via Twitter: Grimes not elite or top 5... Agree or disagree?

On twitter today Jason Cole said that Brent Grimes is not a top 5 CB and is not as good as Revis, Haden, Sherman, Peterson or Talib.

I know it's just one columnists opinion and in the grand scheme of things who cares, but for the sake of conversation, where do you place Grimes on that list? Which one of those players would you rather have? To me he may not be the best on that list, but based on his performance over the last two years, he deserves to be on that list.

It's a fair debate. Although I think Peterson is overrated IMO and Haden may be the most underrated of those 5.

I don't really care if he's top 5 or top 10 or even top 15...he just needs to continue doing what he's been doing for the last year and a half and I'll be happy.

a few of those players are overhyped imo, revis isn't what he was, talib is meh, and sherman just talks to get his attention/product of the system and players around him... I say Peterson, Hayden, Grimes... Cole does seem like a closet jet fan/dolphin hater... never has anything good to say about us

Yep...those are all press coverage corners. I know Peterson couldn't play off coverage...they tried that with him when he got in the league and he was awful...but he's dumb as rocks so what can you expect.

Grimes is easily, easily top 10 and it could be argued he is one of the best in the league, just like last year.

petersons seriously overrated...he's always looking in the backfield and loses his assignment thinking his physical talents which are great can make up for it...if he played more worried about his assignment than trying to make a highlight reel he'd be worthy of top 5 talk...but he doesnt

grimes play has gotten better of late but i cant say its top 5 worthy...last year i would have fought more on his behalf for it...but theres still 8 games left

the guy we let go in another brilliant ireland move vontae davis is playing a top 5 corner this year...indys lost in the back end without him...imo he has to be in consideration for playing the best corner in football at the half way point...

the other 3 is a toss up. I would swap Grimes for Hayden right now without thinking but that's mostly an age thing. Grimes is probably better than Peterson but I don't think Brent has been as good as he was last year so its debatable.

Sherman is not as good this year now that they've enforcing these rules for dbs. PLUS Sherman can only play one side of the field.

When brent trailed after nelson a few weeks ago it wasnt pretty....

these are 6 really good corners, cutting it into 5 is tough. There isnt a wrong awnser.

Hoops made a great point about davis as well.... but I suspect the trade woke him up. He always had the skill but I doubt he ever would have developed in miami

revis isnt up to his old standards either...not the same explosion and drive on the ball burst athlete...that's good news for us...still mirrors well but doesnt drive on routes from off coverage etc as well...
