Just did a quick re-watch of James in the 1st quarter. He had 20 snaps, 16 pass and 4 run. Nothing bad to say about him, meaning he played well. On his 7th play, he moved well to his left to get into the mix on a run, making a good cut block. He made a good pick up on a stunt, and did not give up any pressure's. Sims lined up on his side 4-5 times but, only helped him once when he got beat.

Tannehill getting rid of the ball quickly helps, and he has not seen NFL blitz packages but, I do like what I have seen of him so far.

I think he had 1 penalty, other than that he did pretty good against a good dline. Imagine him next to a solid RG?

Tannehill has statistically been very good against the blitz, so I'm not concerned about that.

Tannehill struggles when teams are able to get pressure on him while dropping 7+ into coverage.

If James can be around average in his rookie year, I will be happy. I'm starting to think he may be able to do that.

He will be solid in pass pro this year as expected, likes of mario williams won't be pretty but any rookie will struggle

Running game.. not so hopeful

So far i have little to complain about James....solid and quiet is what you want out of your RT. Would love to see a little more push in the run, but it is hard to fully evaluate since few of the running play ever develop due to the poor interior play.

Looks like he will be helped by Sims much improved blocking. That's a big difference from last year, when no TE could block worth a damn.

Yea Maybe sims will block better that would be nice but the struggles at rg whether that is thomas, the rookie turner or Smith who can't pass pro for **** are going to make life harder for James

Yeah, the interior penetration wreaks havoc on a ZBS.

A vet would be nice to have next to the rookie but, guess Hickey did not think so.

I willing to let the pass pro suffer a tad to get Turner RD snaps so he can get push. Dude is strong as a ox.

I agree. Miami drafted him because of his pass blocking talent and that has shown up in training camp and pre-season. Hopefully, he will develop more as a run blocker. But, if not and he's above average in pass protection the Dolphins will be happy.
