The Jags have had 26 sacks, 17 QB hits, and 56 hurries so far this year.

To compare, our D has had 19 sacks, 25 hits, and 71 hurries.

Not the kind of comparison many would expect. They can bring the heat, and our OL will be tested.

Not worried though. read option helps deter alot of blitzes. shotgun, RB, tannehilll keeper and will have ability to throw downfield too.

Wallace should have a huge game IMO.

We get more consistent pressure that's what that tells me. Way more hurries and hits.

But to the point, no doubt that's our biggest worry this game. We must get the running game going as well as use screens. That will neutralize their line

The inside pressure is what concerns me. They have a very good DT. We struggled earlier in the season against Buffalo and KC inside pressure.
Pouncey, Satele, and College will be tested and are probably the key to the game for our offense.
I would turn RT loose on a few scrambles to get him and Jacksonville loosen up.

We have actually been able to execute a few successful screens this year. Let's hope that continues to actually be a weapon on offense, instead of just a wasted down as in past years.

The blocking on screens has been much improved. I actually look forward to them now.

Jags also lost their MLB for the year and DE Branch is out along with two cornerbacks. It's not the same defense right now as they have been.

Clay needs a huge game. They can't even hope to cover him. They suck in the middle

The Jaguars have played one more game.

Not so sure the read option will remain as successful. Chicago was like the initial unvailing of the wild cat. It's easily defended with gap containment that would have to be countered with quick hits to the slot receiver or RB. Tannehill will need to be on his toes or he'll run smack head on into a 260 lb OLB.

Your thread does not disclose that Jax ranks near the bottom in pass defense and therefore near the bottom overall....I'll bet they blitz more and get burned more often as well?

I wouldn't trade our pass rush for theirs....would you?

He ran 5 times against Oakland. I think that was the game we unveiled him running. It was successful 3 weeks in a row now. I doubt the Jags will stop what 3 better teams couldn't

The blocking AND the setup by Tannehill. In the TV coverage, it's easy to believe he's going the other way or down field.

All this worrying about a 1-6 team. Jacksonville's ferocious d-line didn't stop Noles, Cousins, Luck, and Rivers. If we've really turned a corner, we should be able to handle the pressure and RT should have a very good day.

Spiff! Thanks for a point the original poster failed to mention!
