Jay Cutler didnt thrill me much at the Senior Bowl game. I have said all along that everyone is really blowing up Jay Cutler better than what he really is and his performace saturday showed.

I wouldnt say he did horrible but his did "ok" he was like 19-6 for his passes with a TD pass and a INT. I really wouldnt base that 1 quarter he played on how well hes going to be.

Jay Cutler did however impress me with his arm strength and his quick realease. Yes, he did make some poop descions at time, but I think he was mostly just the "gitters" and just the hype of wanting to do good to impress the scouts.

I think that game didnt hurt him much, i still feel confident in him if Miami takes him. I beileve that Jay Cutler is going have to work extra hard and impress everyone at the combine including Nick Saban, otherwise i can now see Miami passing on Jay Cutler in the 1st round but drafting Brodie Croyle in the 2nd round.

Scouts were very impressed with Jay Cutler in practice which might save Cutler in the draft including a good combine. I cant see Nick Saban completly ruleing out Jay Cutler yet, Nick Saban has heard and seen some great things that he likes from Jay Cutler durring the Senior Bowl practice and the Senior Bowl game.

I think it just depend on who in left when Miami picks. Nick Saban is definetly interested in Jay Cutler. If Jay Cutler can impress Nick Saban at the combine then i think Miami will take him, no doubt.

I almost wouldnt mind to have Croyle either if i knew we could get a good 1st round pick someone like Micheal Huff or Jimmy Williams. Brodie Croyle really impressed me at the Senior Bowl game and i have heard only great things with his practices.

considering cutler won't be ready to play in the NFL for several years, i'll take his performance in the senior bowl after a week of practice in a new pro-style system with a grain of salt.

Free agency starts soon, so Miami will have to snatch up a free agent QB quick, if that is the route they are taking. Assuming they haven't taken a free agent QB before the draft in April, then I would greatly expect Saban to grab a QB somewhere in the draft. If Cutler is on the board at 16, I don't see how you can pass him up if you haven't already picked up a free agent QB.

why not do both, sign UFA McCown and draft a QB as well....if Saban is in love with Cutler and he falls to us (which I seriously doubt) grab him, if not, get better value with Croyle in the 2nd and go Def. with our 1st (Huff or J.Williams)..

Each to their own. I rather have Croyle still at a better value.
maybe a better value when healthy, but how often does that happen?

I fully trust Saban and if he thinks he can turn Cutler into a world beater then great.

However, I keep seeing people make excuses for Cutler. His poor completion percentage, TD to Int ratio etc. during the season were because of his surrounding cast and him trying to do too much because of the lack of talent on his team.

His performance in the Senior Bowl was just jitters and unfamiliarity with the receivers.

He certainly has a cannon. But to go so high shouldn't he have to demonstrate positive qualities in decision making and accuracy? I'm not discounting the excuses. They may all be valid. However, when your looking for a later round pick, you can find these stories of guys that for whatever reason were held back in college despite having great skills and you hope that their skills will prosper in the pros.

But, with such a high pick, I feel like they should prove they have all the qualities as opposed to having to disprove that they don't.

Agreed. I think that's the best strategy to pursue. We need to bring in two QBs and put to rest our QB problems once and for all. That may be overkill but at least one of the QBs should pan out and we could spend the rest of the draft and free agncy on other positions.

There can be no doubt that there are alot of double standard prognosticators on this board. They want a big name. And nothing will stop them from getting the name they created for weeks now. Jay Cutler. The arm.

Considering more than likely none of them will be ready to start...I rather not over pay for a hyped up player like Cutler...when I can have a player like Croyle in the 2nd round.

I don't think bruised ribs will stop him...the other injuries are past and didn't concern his throwing arm.

How did you like Croyles interception? Its funny everyone remembers Cutlers, which really was an on target throw that a great defensive play was made on, but Croyles, which was an ugly interception seems to be forgotten.

Wow Pete, with such a keen eye for talent I'm surprised you haven't been offered an NFL gig? Maybe Wannstedt will call if some NFL team re-cycles him again.
