When looking at the AFC Wildcard picture, I think we've all been assuming that Denver, with their 7-4 record is a lock for the first wildcard spot.

I think the Broncos will miss the playoffs if they bench Plummer and start Cutler. This move places us sqarely into the mix for either of the wildcard spots.

Think about it, only 2 rookie quarterbacks in recent history have played well enough to lead their teams to the playoffs: Marino & Roethlisberger. That's it. In the past 25 years, only two rookies have succeeded, and I like the odds that Cutler will fail this year.

Of course, Ronnie's hand will be a major obstacle to overcome, but I think 9-7 should get us into the wildcard. I really think Denver's gonna tank with Cutler at the helm. They've got Seattle, @SD, @AZ, Cincinatti, and SF left on their sked. I could see them ending up 8-8 with a rookie behind center.

I think Cutler will eventually be a great QB. Just not this year.

The media out here is pushing for the change, but I really don't see it. The Broncos have too much to lose by putting in a rookie. This is not Dallas were Tony Romo has been in that system for 4 years or Campbell in Washington in his second year.
The fans out here HATE Jake Plummer, but I think you have to go with the veteran in this situation. The Broncos do have some tough games coming up and Cutler hasn't taken one snap in a NFL game. Those say we'll he looked good in preseason, some of his opponets are flipping burgers right now, in practice, he's wearing a red shirt and is not getting his butt blitzed. I jsut don't see it.

don't you think that the Phins need to beat the Jaguars and the Patriots at home before we even start talking playoffs

assuming Denver and the JETS loose as well :rolleyes2

Dolfan Stan, I can talk about the playoffs whenever and wherever I want.

I am not a player, so I don't need to take it "one game at a time". My enthusiasm has no bearing on whether Miami wins or loses.

And we will beat the Jags and Pats!

Steve, I totally agree with you. Pulling Plummer for Cutler would be suicide...and that's why I am so happy about this impending move.

i live in denver, and i saw a plummer lynching mob earlier today. shanny is dumb, he wont throw in a rookie wen they have a shot at the playoffs

Do remember that what your hearing is a story that the media is pushing. It's NOT coming from the Broncos. Mike Shanahan is loyal to his QB's. Again, remember this is what the media and fans want, not Shananhan.

Just announced by Chris Mortensen that Plummer is done, and Cutler is in, and I have to agree with Gardenhead I just assumed Denver was a lock, but I have to concure, and I think a lot of experts have also concurred especially with back to back losses, this team is in for a slide.

But keeping things in perspective we do have 2 weeks of tough games, so ultimately we have to control our own destiny, I personnally think we should be ok without Ronnie.

Again I predict a win over Jax 17-13.

Well, there you go! Looks like the media is pushing this story because it is true!

I stole this form another message board, but here's a look at how recent rookie QBs have done:

2006 Gradkowski: Awful
2006 Vince Young: Awful
2006 Leinart: Some decent games, but mostly bad.
2005 Alex Smith: Disaster of epic proportions
2005 Charlie Frye: Awful
2005 Kyle Orton: Awful
2004 Ben Roethlisberger: Undisputably awesome.
2004 Eli Manning: Awful
2004 JP Losman: Awful
2003 Byron Leftwich: Decent
2003 Kyle Boller: Awful
2002 David Carr: Terrible
2002 Joey Harrington: Bad

I was talking to a buddy of mine who is a Broncos fan and that's exactly what i told him. I said If Jay Cutler starts, he's going to help Miami get into playoffs by eliminating his own team.

Although Cutler won't be the sole purpose, he will have some say in it.

I'll believe it next week when the Broncos play Seattle. Until then, I don't buy it yet. Last I knew, Mortenson is a reporter for ESPN and not the Broncos coach. I'am not saying its not true, but I just don't see it.

The Broncos are still two games up on us with five left. If this story is true, maybe Shanahan is playing for a wildcard spot and has given up on trying to win the division.

I hear you. I won't believe it until Cutler takes the first snap versus Seattle. But I am extremely excited about the prospects of it happening.

It would be a stupid move by Shannahan. Thats why I love it.
