With a name like Jay and Williams, I'm glad we got rid of him. I'm actually not surprised he got released this early, more like AMUSED.

That was kind of the beginning of the panic mode mentality, trading away future draft picks due to need at a specific position. If I remember correctly, we traded for Williams during training camp, perhaps even after exhibition games were underway. I thought it was lousy value.

This is further evidence how poor our DL personnel was last season. And that Saban correctly targeted that area for mass overhaul. Still at least one upfield DT short.

IIRC, we traded for him the day we released Daryl Gardener.

Total panic move.

Maybe we should bring him in just to laugh in his face.

Lol....bring him in for a workout, then halfway thru point, laugh and tell him "psych! go home, ya selfish turd". Total waste of Saban's time, but it'd be funny nonetheless lol.

Here was Jay's problem: Because he thought a regular-season game was a scrimmage, he also thought off-season workouts were naptime.

I think we should sign him for depth, damn its hard to type that with a straight face. This guy has always sucked I cannot belive we traded a 4th for him ugh.

Not only that if IIRC they traded a 4th for a player they had signed as an undrafted free agent out of college and then cut, he then signed with the Rams.

EDIT -- Yep just checked, the Fins signed Jay as an unrestricted FA in 94 and then cut him before the end of training camp, he then signed with the Rams.

I am one who thinks Jay played well here. However, I was not broken up to see him go. He was older and outspoken aboput a coach he knows nothing about. Sort of a poetic justice since his agent threw a fots in on his way out.
